Phase alignment is provided by using strictly first order crossovers. Impedance compensation is also used, making the 1C a stable and easy load for the amplifier: the specification lists a 6.8 ohm nominal that only varies +/-2 ohms. Because it is also efficient at a quoted 90 dB, the 1C is very tube-friendly, probably including even output-transformerless (OTL) designs. Time alignment is provided by slanting the baffle. Vandersteen VLR Bookshelf Speakers This set of speakers are used but work fine. As with most Vandersteen speakers, these are great sounding speakers and at this price point it would be tough to find something that sounds as good as these. There are some surface scratches and marks on the wood endcaps. A few I highlighted with pictures, but please review all the pictures to make sure your happy with the condition. When I shake one of the speakers, I can hear something rattling, which I think is the internal wiring, but Im not sure and didnt want to take apart to inspect. Vandersteen Model 1 Speakers in PRISTINE condition. THESE ARE ORIGINAL MODEL 1’s (no letter after serial numbers). To find an original pair in virtually unused condition is super rare! These Were removed from sealed original boxes by a moving company that was hired to discard all items from an estate. Yes, they were meant to be thrown out. The movers were intrigued by the sealed Vandersteen speaker boxes…weren’t sure what they were. So they opened them up and decided not to discard the speakers (brilliant decision…duh). Unfortunately, they tossed the boxes (not brilliant). I was offered the chance to buy them and obviously did. The speakers were never used until I bought banana plugs to test them. They work and sound amazing! There is hardly a mark on these…maybe a stray mark here and there, but essentially OUTSTANDING 98% condition! Even the grill fabric is near flawless. Will toss in the banana plugs that I purchased to hook these up. Will ship in two boxes! These speakers are quite heavy and will require extensive shipping materials. Hence the ship cost as shown.
