To name just a few of the many selling points of this device: - The Oppo cannot only play BD, DVD and CD, but even the more exotic formats like HDCD, SACD and DVD-AUDIO. Barely any player of the market covers all those formats at once. For experts: Something that not even the later Oppo players can do, this BDP-83 can: this is playing self-burned media of those formats SACD-R and DVD-Audio-R. Oppo were forced to remove this compatibility from their later players! - While many deviced only have HDMI outputs, the BDP-83 even still has Component and composite for video as well as RCA, coaxial, optical AND 7.1 multichannel outputs - so you can place it in any kind of a home cinema!
