An Oppo BDP-83 Blu-ray player in generally very good condition except that it needs repair for a playback issue. The unit plays fine for about 20 minutes and then stops. After a short rest, it starts up, plays for another 20 minutes, and then stops again. This issue affects only Blu-ray discs; DVD playback is not affected. I dont have the proper equipment to test further. Otherwise, the player is clean, undamaged, and works as expected — as does the remote. No cosmetic issues. All the standard accessories are included: user manual, power cord, HDMI cable, RCA cables, tote bag, original shipping box, and batteries for the remote. The player will be double-boxed for shipping.

I am the original owner of this Oppo BDP-83. I bought it in November of 2009. It was my main player for about two years. It was relegated to a bedroom system when I bought a Oppo BDP-93 to have 3D capability in September of 2011. This player has seen extremely light use since then. The players disc drawer will sometimes stick closed when pressing the open button. It seems that once it opens, after a couple of attempts at hitting the open button, it behaves fine. This usually happens at initial power on. I am selling this AS IS for this reason. I have tested the player with Blu-ray, DVD, CD, SACD, DVD-AUDIO and Blu-ray audio discs. It has played all of the discs fine. Some Blu-ray discs take a longer time to load which is probably due to the fact this player has not seen a firmware upgrade since November 26, 2014. There is no guaranty it will load all newer Blu-ray discs. Included is a thumb drive with firmware that fixes HDCP 2.2/HDMI 2.0 compatibility issues that you get if you were to do a factory reset for any reason. The player includes original remote, packing, power cord, HDMI cable(not original) and original box. The original remote is probably worth the price of the player.
