This plays both blu-rays region a and is Region free for DVDs! I plugged it in and popped in a disc and its working perfectly. I tried it with both blu-rays and DVDs both region 1 and a few from other regions and it played everything. Comes with power cable manual and remote. Unfortunately I no longer have the box due to a burst water heater (the player was not in the box at the time so no worries) Everything seems to run great. I took photographs of it playing as you can see. The only thing I noticed was that occasionally you need to push the drawer button twice for it to open if its been off for a while. Apparently this was an issue occasionally with the bdp-83s. Whats amazing is oppo still services these for a small fee so if you ever wanted the whole drawer assembly replaced all you have to do is ship it to them and they take care of it. But it always opened for me. Oppo was renowned for making the very best DVD and Blu-ray players. Picture quality is superb!Item will be well packed and shipped within 2 days of sale. Selling a beautiful blue ray player by Oppo in a very good cosmetic condition. It works great except when there is no DVD or CD, the door does not always open. This is a well documented issue with this player related to too strong magnetic field that is shielded when a DVD/CD is present, according to Oppo. Without a CD/DVD inside the player, it does eventually open after about 2-4 button pushes or so. Whenever there is a CD or a DVD inside the player, the door opens and closes fine with no issues. The playback of both CDs and DVDs is terrific and all player operations outside of the door with no CD/DVD, are fine. The remote works great as well. Comes with the original accessories, original purchase receipt from 2009 and the box.

Its been a part of my audiophile AV setup for the last few years and performed flawlessly. The picture and sound are quite lovely!
