The Kenwood Basic series of stereo components was the companys last big attempt to compete in the high end market. Reasonable prices and phenomenal specs, with really low distortion. They included Kenwoods patented Sigma Drive which, when you run smaller control wires to each speaker, better controls the bass, making it cleaner and more precise. It isnt a huge difference with full range speakers, but you can hear the improvement. It also has something called Dynamic Linear Drive that lets it punch about its basic power rating for loud dynamics.

The preamp has a very very high quality and crystal clear sound, it was made in the good old days in Japan, which has nothing to do with todays new audio equipment in stores.
