Kenwood Basic C2 Preamplifier Worked well but only played out of one channel, which is a common problem with the basic c2. Attempted to bypass the balance controls one night after having too much whiskey and pulled a trace out of the board. Now you can have it for a steal!

Kenwood 700C Preamplifier. Excellent cosmetics. Works well. Exceptional sound quality. Probably the finest preamplifier Kenwood ever made. Weighs 23lbs. Measures: 17 wide x 14 deep x 6 tall. In the last year the following restorative work was performed; All seven boards were recapped. All capacitors used were Nichicon audio grade. All problematic 2SC1451 transistors were replaced/upgraded. Power supply was calibrated and relay replaced. The Loudness control does not work. Everything else does. The original pot had failed, and direct replacements havent been available for many years. The best replacement that could be found enables everything else to work except the loudness function. A full-control unit, the Basic C1 is fully up to the high standards set by its partner, the Basic M1 power amplifier. Now that high quality MC cartridges are becoming more affordable, the freedom to select a cartridge to suit the needs of the music is an important advantage in a preamplifier. The Basic C1 adjusts to the preferred cartridge automatically, according to the input selector that is activated.
