Product information: This Yamaha K-420 is a auto-reverse stereo cassette deck with Dolby B and C noise reduction, it was first sold by Yamaha in 1985 with a recommended retail price of USD $249 and discontinued 2 years later in 1987. The main features of the Yamaha K-420 are: 2 heads, mechanical 3 digit tape counter, tape type selection and capable of handling normal, chrome and metal tapes, belt driven auto reverse transport. Typical front loading cassette deck with the cassette compartiment located on the left side of the deck. Tape eject is operated mechanically and the cassette needs to be placed with the side to be played facing forward in the cassette well. Level meters used on the K-420 are generic digital peak reading meters. Full-logic transport controls used on the K-420 let it respond to the slightest finger contact for fast and effortless transport function selection. Dolby C-type used in the K-420 provides 20 dB of noise reduction above about 1,000 Hz, fully doubling the amount given by B-type. To make live recordings this deck has 2 microphone inputs to connect microphones with a jack connector. For undisturbed listening a jack connector for a pair of stereo headphones is supplied. Yamaha K-420 Natural Sound Stereo Home Cassette Deck Dolby Record Reverse Excellent condition and hardly used! Very clean! This was originally owned by an elderly couple. I played and tested most features prior to purchasing myself. His wife mentioned they seldomly used the system and was actually packed away not long after purchasing. I took it out of the plastic box they stored in and connected to test. I did not record anything on it since we only had a regular cassette tape. As far as belts and other internal parts, I did not remove cover to inspect. It played perfectly fine for about 15 minutes. It was connected to speakers and I did not hear any strange noises while playing. It comes with attached AC power cord, nothing else. If you purchase this, please test it and reach out if you have any issues. I am very fair and ask for buyers to do the same. Shipping weight is roughly 10 pounds so the closer zip codes surrounding VA will obviously be cheapest with USPS quotes. Offers turned on!

This Yamaha K-420 Natural Sound Stereo Cassette Deck works well and features Auto Reverse. The deck has been tested for Play, Pause, Stop, Eject, FF, Rewind and Auto Reverse and all the functions work well. The Record function also works well and it was tested by making a sample recording. The sound reproduction quality was good. Mechanical tape counter is not working however. The heads, capstans and pinch rollers have been cleaned using a wet-type cleaning/demagnetizing cassette. Sound quality is sharp and clear and the cosmetic condition is very good/excellent. This Yamaha K-42 is a well functioning vintage cassette tape deck. Serial # 05715.
