It has a true multibit autonomy DAC with four DAC8812 D/A converters. It has a fully balanced architecture with one DAC for each phase. This means four 16-bit DACs total. Input a digital signal via an optical (toslink) cable and youll be rewarded with the digital to analog conversion the Bifrost 2/64 can master with ease. Jotunheim-2 Amplifier (MRSP $399)This is an awesome fully balanced headphone amplifier with a 1/4 headphone plug or an XLR headphone plug. It will drive any headphone of your choosing. Or use the Jotunheim as a preamp, it has RCA or XLR outputs. Like the more expensive Schiit amplifiers it comes with Nexus technology. This means an incoming single ended (RCA) signal can output to a balanced (XLR) signal, or an incoming balanced signal can output to a single ended signal. The amp also has Continuity S technology. This means the amp can smoothly transition from a class A to class AB amplification. Class A is often sufficient for headphones, but if more output is required by a downstream unit, then the amp will seamlessly switch into class AB mode. Silversonic (DH Labs) RCA cables (MRSP $140 for 1 pair)To ensure you get high performance signal transfer between the units, a pair of 0.5 meter Silversonic BL-1 Series II RCA cables are included. Selling my Schiit Bifrost 2 OG as Im downsizing my headphone setup and just keeping my Meze Empyreans and Chord Mojo 2 meaning my whole desktop setup has to go inc. the Bifrost 2, Feliks Euforia 25th Anniversary Edition & ZMF Verite Closed that I also have listed for sale. The Bifrost 2 is often regarded as one of the best DACs in its price range and sits right between the best Delta Sigma DACs and best R2R resistor ladder DACs with its proprietary multibit technology which aims to retain some of the best qualities of both. The OG version is often preferred over the newer Bifrost 2/64 that replaced it as many feel the original character was lost creating a thinner and more fatiguing sound in the newer version. The OG is becoming far more sought after and harder to find nowadays so grab one while you can! I purchased it used about a year ago and as you can see theres an unfortunate area of scratches on the top where the seller hadnt properly packaged it and the plug ended up rubbing against the case in shipping! This is purely cosmetic though and its otherwise in great condition and fully working. In the sale Ive also included a high quality Merlin Black Widow power cable and the highly regarded Van Damme Starquad silver plated OFC RCA cable with Switchcraft gold plated connectors & Van Damme Starquad XLR cables with Neutrik connectors.
