The headphone amp can also be used as a preamp. Both the balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs can be used at the same time, so its a versatile little box. Another note concerning the headphone amp is that it will drive pretty much any headphones currently in production.The headphone amp does not come with the optional DAC card. This should be obvious since I bought an external DAC, but just want to make sure this is understood since its an option offered through Schiit. You can still order the add-on through their site if you desire.
