This is a rare, vintage amplifier from Proton, with an advanced Dual-Mono design. It is in extremely nice condition, and has had the green illumination replaced after the bulbs finally went out. These have been replaced with a wonderful blue for a slightly updated look. The amplifier has an amazing 7db of dynamic headroom, which allows it to put out considerably more power for musical peaks, and the oversized power supply is able to cope with lower-impedance loads and double the rated power before dipping into that amazing headroom. This is a great vintage stereo amplifier.Rated at 100 wpm but can produce enormous short term power when necessary. (Search YouTube for tests!)I refreshed this amp within the last year: So many other listings say their unit has been tested or serviced.Its typically not true - cleaned is not synonymous with serviced. Electrolytic Capacitors have been replaced and upgraded (with the exception of the four big caps, which tested fine).New relay installed.New chassis mount RCA inputs installed.These are a well known issue with this model. If you are looking at other offerings, make sure that the upgrade has been done,otherwise eventually your amp will have intermittent audio - possibly damaging your speakers.New Green LED lamps installed in the meters and power switch.Professionally powder coated cover.I have a different cover that has been stripped. I would reduce the price of this transaction by $50 if the buyer prefersto have me install/ship the unit with the stripped cover. I have not had the opportunity to have it powder coated. The faceplate has faded a bit - this common.The top of the faceplate has some small scratches, most likely from when gear was placed on top of it.I still have another unit in my system... need to lighten up the collection. Even though I have refreshed, tested this unit - due to the nature of vintage electronics - this is an AS IS sale.
