AFAIK, it was also the first integrated amp by NAD to feature a Class G Power Amp design before the Power Envelope terminology became popular. It is rated at 35WPC @ 8, with a whopping 5.5 dB of IHF headroom (120W @ 8, 160W @ 4, 200W @ 2) and a Damping Factor above 100. This early design also appears to have focused on speed, as the pre-driver transistors in the Power Amp are HiDef Video drivers with an fT of 150 Mhz. This little beast is ready to impress!

Another nice feature is that the Power ON/OFF Mute is all electronic instead of being controlled by the position of the Power Switch. This is a vintage NAD 2200 Power Envelope Stereo power Amplifier. It has had all electrolytic capacitors except the four power supply ones replaced with high quality replacements. Several other components were replaced as well, including the output relays, that often go bad with age. The binding posts have been replaced with new nicer ones. This amplifier sounds much louder than its rated power, probably due to its dynamic power capabilities. There is a great review of this amp on Audio Science Review. This NAD C315BEE was buzzing on arrival due to a defective Main Capacitor. I upgraded both to Chemicon KMH series 105C rated caps. Many of the original JH branded Electrolytic Caps were also testing bad, so I upgraded the audio capacitors to Bipolar nichicon and ELNA, and I upgraded the Power Supply caps to mostly 105C rated nichicon, ELNA, etc. For added versatility, I have repurposed the (fixed line level) Tape Output RCA Jacks to be (variable level) Preamp Outputs suitable for a powered Subwoofer, external Power Amp, etc. Im also including a new 6-button learning remote programmed for Mute On/Off, Volume Up/Down, and 3 Input Selects DISC, CD, and AUX. Rated at 40 NAD watts per channel, the 45 Volt Main Rails and 10,000uF Main Caps provide plenty of IHF Power as well. While the reviewers are quite complimentary of this model, some have mentioned their desire for Preamp Outputs. VOILA!! It should be noted that the Standby Mode draws similar power and generates similar heat to the ON Mode. I recommend turning OFF the Main Switch on the Rear Panel when not in use.

Both units recently serviced & fully working C350 is better than new -- its fully re-capped and restored, including the hard-to-find 22000uF/63V supply caps (installed German-made Mundorf M-lytics). Premium capacitors throughout, all Panasonic FC/FM and Nichicon FG/ES. Problematic standby relay has been replaced too. Freshly biased/aligned. This is an all-discrete amp (no chips in the signal path) with incredible specs and NADs impedance sensing circuit that adjusts output current for whatever loudspeaker impedance you hook up. Sound is pristine, and the amp drives complex speaker loads with great stability and no overheating. Includes short RCA jumper cables for the pre-out/power-in jacks. C420 is all-original, recently checked and working well. Still has original Elna capacitors throughout, which are all tested good. In typical fashion, this NAD 7220PE arrived with shorted Output Transistors in one Power Amp channel. Fortunately, the fuses blew before any driver transistors were damaged, so this unit is otherwise all original silicon. It is the 3220PE Power Envelope version of the 3020e integrated amplifier and the 4220 tuner in one package. I Souped Up this unit by upgrading the output transistors in both channels to Toshiba C5200/A1943 complementary pairs which are intended for 100W high fidelity amplifiers. NAD uses them in their C series amps. They can easy handle and take full advantage of the higher +/-40V Power Envelope Rails. I also increased the Main Caps from 4700uF to 6800uF 105C Chemicon for the same extra Punch as the 7225PE. I replaced all of the electrolytic caps in the Integrated Amplifier and Tuner Audio sections. The audio caps have been upgraded to ELNA CE Bipolar and nichicon Fine Gold Audio along with Vishay Film in the Tone Control section. The new power supply caps are Chemicon and Rubycon. I have rewired the Tape Out jacks on this 7220PE to be the variable Preamp Outputs for use with a powered subwoofer, additional power amp, etc. These are the same preamp outputs as on the 7225PE and allow these units to be used in a larger system as a Phono Preamp and/or Preamp/Tuner. I have been testing this unit with Boston HD-5 bookshelf speakers and a Velodyne subwoofer, and it sounds great. Finally, I upgraded the ultra sensitive Bias trimpots to multi turn equivalents for more accurate and more stable adjustment. It is also rather elegant in that it has two independent power transformers and power supplies, one for the analog integrated amplifier section and the other for the digital tuners. It is literally an integrated amp with a tuner on top.

This NAD 302 was originally wired for 240VAC, but Ive rewired it per the service manual for 120VAC and replaced the Power Plug with a USA version. The Green Power button was missing and has been replaced with a Black one. This amp arrived DOA due to multiple shorted capacitors in the preamp power supply, so I replaced ALL of the electrolytics. The Audio Coupling caps have all been upgraded to Bipolar nichicon MUSE BP, VP, and ELNA CE-BP. The Power Supply caps have been upgraded to higher voltage/temp rated nichicon, Chemicon, and Panasonic. The large Main Caps are 6800uF 50V 105C KMD Chemicon. The 302 can be configured as either. - an all electronic Power On/Off Mute circuit for use with remote Power Strips, etc. - an Impedance switch to select low or high Main Voltage Rails for the Power Amp - higher voltage output transistors - larger Main Caps - additional inputs and 2 tape outputs. - a heftier Heat Sink arrangement for the Power Amp components - a more traditional chassis style with RCA jacks that face out instead of up. From the schematic point of view, the 302 circuit topology includes the same all discrete 4-transistor Phono Preamp used throughout the NAD product line from the 3020A to the Monitor Series, combined with the Control Amp and Power Amp topologies from the early 3020 versions. In the 4 ohm (Low) position, the Impedance switch supplies the same +/- 30V Main Rails to the same Power Amp design of the original 3020 Series 20. In the 8 ohm (High) position, the Main Rails are increased to +/- 37V, providing additional power and dynamic range; 25WPC RMS, 40WPC IHF. IMO, unless the unit is overheating, the High position should be used for maximum performance.

12/6/2023 Update: I have upgraded the 4 trimmers for Power Amp Bias and Offsets to multi turn equivalents. They allow for more precise adjustments that will not be rattled out of spec. Greetings EU and other 220V eBayers! This ones for you. I bought this NAD 7220PE 220V unit long ago for parts, but found it to be in such good condition that I couldnt bear to break it down. So I recapped it instead! The audio caps have been upgraded to nichicon MUSE BP and Fine Gold Audio, while the Power supply caps are nichicon, Rubycon, Panasonic, and CDE/Ilinois Capacitor. I also removed the PE Fuses to reconfigure this unit as a 7020e, which is literally a 3020e and a 4220 Tuner with separate Power Supply. Ill put them back in on request, but I do this whenever the original Power Amp transistors are all still intact to preserve and protect them from the excessive PE Voltage Rails that can drive them beyond their safe area and cause them to fail. It also more closely emulates the operation and performance of the iconic 3020 Power Amp. Some claim the original RCA output transistors in this unit to be the best. For added versatility, I have repurposed the (fixed line level) Tape Output RCA Jacks to be the (variable level) Preamp Outputs suitable for a powered Subwoofer, external Power Amp, etc. Ive been testing them with my Boston Acoustics HD5 Bookshelfs and Velodyne Subwoofer. They are equivalent to the Preamp Outputs on the 7225PE / 3225PE which also allows this unit to be used as a Preamp only. Cosmetically, this unit is very clean and looks great except for a few scratches on the top/side cover. Full refund within 60 days. Buyer pays return shipping. The shipping charge is for the return trip back to you in the same box sent. Restore - Clean and inspect the inside of the unit. Repair any issues discovered or mentioned by the buyer. Deoxit switches and potentiometers. Resolder RCA, DIN, and Headphone jacks as needed to reseat and resecure them, along with any other questionable solder joints. Re Cap - Replace the Electrolytic Capacitors in the Power Supplies, Amplifier sections, and Tuner Audio sections. Ill upgrade the audio caps with nichicon, ELNA, Rubycon, and Panasonic audio grades while preferring 105C and/or higher voltage rated caps for the power supplies. I can also install any capacitors that you provide as desired. Note that replacing the power switch is an additional $35. If you hear a sizzling sound as you slowly push it on or off, then its time to replace it. International units at 220VAC are no problem. Please allow 7-10 days from receipt to return ship so that I have time to listen and confirm proper operation. The 30 day handling time is intended to include your ship time to me as well. This fully recapped and restored 3020B looks, feels, and sounds like new (or better)! It arrived with a nasty HUM due to failing capacitors in the Preamp Power supply. It also had several damaged RCA Jacks, so I replaced the full Input set of 6 with new color coded jacks. The Red Jacks are a bit shorter than the White, but I still like it! The upgraded Audio Caps are Vishay Film, nichicon MUSE BP, Fine Gold and ELNA. The Main Caps have been upgraded from 4700uf to 6800uF 105C Chemicon for an extra IHF Punch. The Offset trimpots have been upgraded to multi turn equivalents for better accuracy and stability. The Biases have been re-calibrated with new RX resistors installed as required. Cosmetically, it is overall as nice as Ive seen. Minor imperfections. Please see photos. Full refund within 60 days. Buyer pays return shipping. Please message me with any questions, corrections, etc. ******* Chapter Two ******* AFAIK, the 3020B and 3120 are the last versions of the 3020x with vertical RCA Jacks. They also have Banana Jack Speaker outputs.They are all discrete and have the low-noise Phono Preamp for MC/MM cartridges that NAD used for years thereafter. BTW, the 3020 LAB IN RCA Jacks can also be used as Preamp Outputs for a Powered Subwoofer, etc. Adding a Sub can be life changing.
