This NAD 1130 has been refurbished and recapped for Like New or better performance. The Phono Preamp is the low noise version of the discrete 4-transistor design first used in the 1020A/3020A and well into the Monitor Series. It has an MM/MC gain select and a 3-position input capacitance select. The Control Preamp is a single OP-AMP design providing the Bass and Treble controls, an Infrasonic (rumble) Filter, and a wonderful BASS_EQ contour that extends the low end of almost any speaker.

For sale is a used NAD 1130 stereo preamplifier. It is in pretty good condition, look at the pictures. I recapped this preamps electrolytic caps with premium brands types Panasonic and Nichicon. The preamp has been tested in all inputs including the moving coil phono input. It sounds great by the way. NAD went above and beyond in building audiophile features and performance into this unit. The phono input has wide dynamic range so its hard to overload. There is a rumble filter to help on filtering out record fluctuations that muddy up the bass. 2 sets of outputs are provided. One normal level the other a higher output.Great for driving separate subwoofer. A high-current output stage will drive any amplifier. All this would be useless if this preamp didn’t sound good. It does. Very warm. Easy to listen to. The BASS EQ button ads a little extra into the lower octaves on bass-weak recordings. All sales are final. This NAD 701 still has its full set of original Motorola output transistors. I rarely find one for Parts/NW without at least one shorted transistor. When I do, I prefer to configure the power amp section to be like the original 3020 by removing two fuses to disable the Power Envelope Supply. This reduces the IHF Power, but also reduces the overall power consumption and protects the output transistors from blowout due to the higher PE voltage rails. Ill be happy to reinstall the fuses on request. The basic remote included has been programmed for Power On/Off, Volume Up/Down, and Tuner Preset Select Up/Down. I have upgraded the electrolytic capacitors in the power supplies and amplifiers. The Power Caps are Panasonic, nichicon, and ELNA. The Main Caps are Chemicon KMQ 105C. The audio caps are ELNA, nichicon Gold, MUSE and VP(M) Bipolar audio grade, along with a pair of WIMA Film for the Tone Control Filter. I also replaced the incandescent display bulbs (which dissipated several watts) with a low power (0.1 watt) LED Fuse Type equivalent that should last forever. Cosmetically, this 701 is in excellent condition except for a small chip at the top left corner of the front panel and some scratches on the left side of the cover. Please see photos. It has the same all-discrete integrated amplifier design as the original 3020A combined with an advanced Tuner and Control System, including Remote Control and the NAD Link. The integrated amplifier main board is virtually identical to the one in the 7020i/7225PE. The many features of the 701 include; 1) Remote Control with Low Power Standby (1.1 watt). 2) An enhanced Tuner with 30 FM and 30 AM presets. 3) A Preamp_Output to Main_Amp Input loop which allows this unit to be used in a larger system as a Preamp/Tuner, Phono Preamp, and/or Power Amp. The Preamp_Output also allows the use of a powered subwoofer, external power amplifier, etc. 4) Binding Post/Banana Jacks for the Main Speakers and Spring Tab wire connectors for the Extra speakers. Which connectors do you prefer? It has both. 5) A Phono/Line switch to select either the internal phono preamp or an external phono preamp (or other line level source) for the Phono Input select button. This is perfect for modern turntables with built-in preamps. 6) A 75 ohm COAX connection for the FM antenna instead of the 300 ohm twin lead connection that is more common on similar sized NAD models. 7) Thermal monitoring and Speaker Output DC protection. The 701 will mute itself if it gets too hot, and will actually shutdown if a DC offset is detected at the speaker outputs. IMO, the 701 provides the same spectacular sound as the original 3020, but with added features and convenience. The FM performance is excellent, and the Remote Volume makes it my favorite 3020 incarnation of all.

This NAD 3020 Series 20 Version I was rendered useless by a pair of shorted capacitors in the Preamp Power Supply. It has been recapped to perfection and has a new power switch and snubber. It is all-original silicon and sounds spectacular! The upgraded Audio Caps are WIMA Film (Phono Input), Vishay Film (Tone Filter), nichicon MUSE BP, FW and Fine Gold. Even the Main Power Caps are nichicon FW Gold. The other power caps are Rubycon, Chemicon, Panasonic and ELNA. The Offset trimpots have been upgraded to multi turn equivalents for easier adjustment, finer accuracy and greater stability. Unfortunately, this unit is cosmetically challenged. The nice appearance at first glance conceals a couple of nasty cracks on the front panel, as you can see from the photos. Shipping damage. Fortunately, the front panel relaxes to normal once it is straightened out. It looks like it could be nicely restored, but Im all thumbs when it comes to plastics and glue :) As it is, the cracks are most noticeable from the top. A close inspection will also reveal that the buttons are 3D printed and not original. Theyre a first iteration and not perfect, but they work well and are better than nothing. This NAD C316BEE has been upgraded with new Main Caps, new audio coupling caps, a new speaker relay, and a custom Preamp Output for use with a powered subwoofer, external power amp, etc. The Preamp Output is provided by a spare Op-Amp in each channel configured as a non-inverting buffer such that there is no load presented to the original signal path. The existing Tape Output path already had On/Off Muting suitable for a Preamp Out, and it works great with my Boston HD-5 satellites and my Velodyne subwoofer. Im also including a learning 6 button remote that is programmed to control Power ON (but not OFF), Volume UP/DOWN, Mute ON/OFF, plus Source Selections for DISC (or MP) and AUX. I can also reprogram it as requested. The original infamous SAMXON Main caps were below spec, so I replaced them with nichicon 105C. The original JH caps are 105C rated and test fine, but since there were only a half dozen electrolytic inter-stage audio coupling caps, I upgraded them all to nichicon Fine Gold. I also installed a new speaker relay for good measure, since it is a common failure. There are two Power Amp Bias adjustments per channel (Coarse and Fine) that I replaced with a single multi-turn equivalent. The slightest tweak to the original Coarse adjustment could set things way off, while the multi-turn provides the same accuracy without concern for vibration or accidental disturbance. This 7000 has been refurbished and recapped as detailed below. I am also including a 6 button basic remote programmed for Power On/Off, Volume Up, Volume Down, Mute (Low Level), Tape_1, and Tape_2 input selects. This will provide three remotely switchable source selections; Tape_1, Tape_2, and the selected input (Phono, Tuner, CD, or Video). 1) Upgraded Electrolytic Capacitors in the amplifiers, power supplies, and tuner audio sections. The audio coupling caps are WIMA Film at the Phono Input, Nichicon MUSE Bipolar and Fine Gold Audio. The power supply caps are typically higher voltage and/or 105C temp rated.The Main Capacitors are new 6800uf/50V Panasonic and the Power Envelope Capacitors are new 6800uf/80V nichicon. 2) Upgraded overheating resistors. Two of the 1/4 W resistors in the power amp are specified on the schematic to be 1/2 W and actually dissipate over 1/4 W. They get so hot that theyve discolored the PC board. Ive replaced them with 1W metal film resistors and elevated them away from the PC board surface. 3) Disabled Soft clipping. This circuitry is another hot spot on the 2240PE/3240PE/7240PE and 7000 Main Boards due to underrated components. It also contains a small coax cable with 140 VDC across it, which is rather dangerous for the unsuspecting. Im not a fan of soft clipping on this model, so I disconnected the 140 V coax and removed the coupling caps from the power amp input section. No more non-linear signal loading, heat or potential shock hazard. 4) The Offset and Bias trimpots have been upgraded to multi turn equivalents for more accurate adjustments that are less likely to drift. The 7000 has the low noise version with the MM/MC gain select switch and Infrasonic Filter. This NAD 1000 arrived in a general state of disrepair, but has been restored to Like New or better performance. The Treble Control Potentiometer has been replaced. The other Pots were noisy, and the Switches were intermittent. Deoxit D5 and Fader F5 worked wonders like they always do. The Video Input Left RCA Jack was intermittent. I replaced the entire subpanel of four Video / Tuner Input RCA Jacks. The Headphone Jack was broken. I found a suitable replacement, but without the isolated muting switches. As a result, the Preamp Ouputs 1 and 2 DO NOT mute when a headphone plug is inserted. I prefer to have the Preamp Outputs always active anyway. I hope you do, too. I have also upgraded all of the Electrolytic Capacitors. The new audio coupling caps are Philips Metal Film or Bipolar ELNA/nichion electrolytics. The Phono Preamp caps are ELNA. The Control Preamp caps are ELNA and nichicon. The Headphone Amp caps are Philips and nichicon. The Power supply caps are ELNA, nichicon, Panasonic, and Chemicon. Its enhanced design is based on the NAD 1020A/B, with all-discrete Low Noise MC/MM Phono and Control Preamps. An additional dual OpAmp design provides power and isolation for the headphone outputs. The Stereo Volume Potentiometer is a higher quality ALPS than typically found in other NAD units. Another nice feature is that the Power ON/OFF Mute is all electronic instead of being controlled by the position of the Power Switch. This means that the Power ON/OFF muting will function properly even when remotely switched by a Smart Power device, Power Strip, etc.

All the electrolytic capacitors were replace in this unit. Everything else is still original. Everything is working perfectly. Very good condition, look very nice. All the potentiometer on the front of the unit work as expected. They were cleaned with Deoxit. There is a tiny plastic piece of one speaker post that’s missing. It doesn’t affect the fonctionality of the post itself since its only a part of the post frame. The spring action is not affected at all. You can see for yourself on one of the photo. I have upgraded the Output Transistors in this 3225PE to take full advantage of the 80V PE Power rails without fear of damage. The original transistors are rated to only 60V, while the new Toshiba C5200/A1943 pairs are rated to 230V and recommended for 100W Power Amps. These same pairs are used in the NAD C series amplifiers. This 3225PE has all electronic muting for use with a master power strip, a smart AC Power switch, etc. A new power cord has been installed, and Ive replaced the Bias/Offset trimmers with multi-turn equivalents for more accurate and stable adjustments. I also installed an additional Heatsink on the Q508 Preamp Negative Rail regulator because it otherwise runs too hot for my fingers. The audio caps have been upgraded to WIMA Film at the Phono Input, Vishay Film in the Bass Control Filter, and nichicon MUSE, FW/Fine Gold, and ELNA Bipolar electrolytics elsewhere. The new Power Supply caps are nichicon, ELNA, and Panasonic. The new Main Caps are Chemicon KMQ 105C. There is a chipped corner and a nasty smudge on the front panel where a label used to be, and another label taped to the left side of the top cover. All of the other components are original except as below; I upgraded the Speaker Relay. The original relay had become intermittent on one channel.. Amplificateur NAD 3020i en partie recapé.. Cette version date des débuts 1990. This NAD 1020 looks a little roughed up on the outside, but its good as new (or better) on the inside. The lack of air vents on the top cover keep the insides of the 1020 in pristine condition. Up for sale is this excellent working order NAD 2400 Power Envelope 2 channel amplifier. It has been fully tested and sounds GREAT. ----------- 40 capacitors replaced. Aside from the 4 main filter capacitors, which are in good health, this unit has had all of its smaller electrolytic capacitors replaced. High quality low leakage/low ESR replacement electrolytic capacitors from reputable suppliers. Brands include Panasonic/Rubycon/Nichicon/etc ------------ Power supply updated The low voltage regulators have been uprated from the stock 500 mA to modern 1A genuine replacements and placed on heatsinks. ---------- Cosmetic condition is very good. Please make special note that small amounts of touch up paint have been applied where needed. The finish on these NAD amplifiers is very nice, but susceptible to wear through over time --- in particular along any hard corners. The touch up is not an exact match, but blends well provided you arent shining lights directly at the areas. It is not perfect, but it sure beats eye catching exposed bare metal. See pictures for an idea of what to expect in well lit conditions.
