Decca FFSS mono cartridge (X prefix stands for mono), serial number 1886. Strictly speaking, the mono heads are not FFSS (full frequency stereophonic sound) heads but FFRR (full frequency range recording) heads. However, FFSS is commonly used as the term for referring to these wonderful-sounding Decca cartridges with a unique snap-on design -- for mounting onto Decca FFSS arms, or onto other tonearms (such as SME) by using an adapter. About 6 or 7 years ago, the cartridge was serviced by John Wright of UK who cleaned and tested the cartridge and gave it a clean bill of health (see last photo). I have rarely used the cartridge after servicing; I would say no more than 3 hours. As you can see from the photos, the cartridge is in excellent condition visually. The needle is sharp and clean. Before listing, I have tested the cartridge and it worked flawlessly and sounded great. You can see and hear it in the video. Please note that the listing is for the Decca mono cartridge only; the other items you see in the video are NOT part of the sale. Decca FFSS are great-sounding cartridges, but their unique design dictates that they be used on Decca FFSS tonearms. Rare Decca London II c/w original box - we are unable to test but it has tested positive for continuity on both channels. Comes with tone-arm adapter. The stylus is sitting very close to the cartridge body - Im not sure if this is normal for this design but worth mentioning all the same, there is also an indentation on one side of the cartridge, I have no idea how this happened but it looks like the plastic shards are still there if anyone felt confident in repairing it.. Very hard to come by now and open to sensible offers. 100% positive feedback - any questions please ask away : )

Decca C4E ffss phono cartridge. Checks good on my Fluke 77 meter for left and right side of 5.05k ohms each so well balanced. Under a magnifying loop I see the needle looks straight and sharp point. I tried to capture this in the pictures but very hard to do. (left shelf, 2nd down, DS)
