The ML-1 is completely black anodized with white lacquer-filled engravings, it has a timeless appearance due to a slimline visual footprint and symmetrical control layout. When it was introduced in 1977 it was considered to be the best solid state pre-amp available on the market. Until then it was thought that this sound quality was only possible with tubes. The sound is clean and precise, but at the same time musical and smooth. It clearly outperformed all competing solid-state offerings at that time. The sound quality is rivaled today only by newer and more expensive gear. The phono section is still one of the smoothest regardless of cost. You will not be disappointed with this items performance. PLEASE NOTE: I have recently added new photos of the internal array of the components (all ML units) so that you can see under the hood. This item is for U.S. based buyers only. Madrigal Proceed AVP2 Audio/Video Preamplifier Mark Levinson for Parts/Repair This amp is not in normal working condition. It powers on but stays stuck with lights on and the screen displaying as shown. Unresponsive. It is being sold AS IS. Not sure what needs to be done. I received this unit in this condition. Up for sale a perfect working ML-1 preamp power supply PLS-150 with an upgrade/ toggle switch see pictures. Im not the original owner. It was the original owner that had the preamp power supply modification done. It looks clean and in my opinion is perfect. Preamp is set up to play MM phono section. Preamp is clean a few cosmetics see pics. Preamp feet are missing because it came with the wood case. The case was sold to a friend. I like the open clean look of the ml-1 not a fan of the wood box. Im adding 4 isolation feat. See pics. Umbilical cord on one end shows it pulled away see pics from Fischer connector has no bearing on its function its just cosmetic. No original box, comes with power cord and a couple of camac connectors. Unit will be packed like a tank for safe arrival. Selling only because I have 3 other preamps and sadly one has to go. Mark Levinson 38S - Audiophile Quality Stereo Preamplifier w original Remote and Manual A power cord included, but I am not sure if it’s original. Got it with the preamp. I purchased it from an original owner a couple years ago and used in my system for 2 years Recently upgraded to a different preamp. The unit just tested and performed perfectly According to the original owner , he purchased it as 38 and then sent to madrigal to upgrade to 38s. The back panes still marked as 38 while the front panel and the manual are from 38s. The unbalanced input 3 was not implemented during the upgrade and display not used when you select it.(see picture) All other input including the balanced ones work great
