Nice working condition Hafler DH-101 preamplifier. I bought this new when I was in college, and used it on and off for almost 40 years. It was repaired professionally a couple years after I bought it and Ive never had any issues with it since. I double checked all the inputs, playing them for an hour or more. I havent used it in a couple of years so I left it running for around 8 hours to make sure its all good. I didnt check the phono sections because I dont have a turntable to connect to it. Theres no reason they wouldnt work, and I included a pair of input shorting plugs for the second input. Its supposed to increase the S/N ratio a little. All the pots are smooth and quiet, no scratching or dead spots. Will ship in original box inside of an additional outer carton. It comes exactly as shown, and has no broken/missing/repaired pieces and is all original. This is the smaller unit which is not rack mountable (rack mount ones are much wider, same functions, just bigger and for racks). Measures in at 13 3/4 wide, 10 deep, and 3 1/2 tall. This is a classic piece of vintage audio gear, designed by David Hafler, of Dynaco fame. This unit is very clean and in great working condition. It sounds wonderful. The Hafler DH-101 Preamplifier has six inputs and three outputs that allow you to connect to various devices. Please note the following:1. The connector is not original equipment (see photo).2. The cable at the box junction has a small nick. A drop of liquid tape has been applied to protect the cable (see photos)4. Plugging the connector to an electrical outlet shows the LED lighting up; no other testing has been done.

For sale is a used Hafler DH-101 stereo preamplifier. It is in pretty nice shape, please look at all the pictures. I recapped all the electrolytic capacitors with high quality types from Nichicon and Panasonic. Why recap? Aren’t the caps in it still working? Yes they are, but after 40 years the electrolyte can dry out. Also oxidation can be a factor. I use replacement capacitors that perform better than the originals. I also installed 2 capacitors underneath close to the preamp circuitry. This is one improvement Hafler did in the DH-110. The external “patch” jack on the rear panel has been converted to another output, so now you have 2 outputs. I just added another picture that shows the location of the second output jack. All the jacks on the back have been cleaned and treated with Caig. The preamp has been fully tested on all inputs. I include a card to show that. None of these changes would matter if this preamp didn’t sound great. It does. It performs like a preamp costing much more. The circuitry is taken from proven designs. US sales only please. Comparable to pre-amps that cost thousands more. Perfect for turntables! Great overall condition. Used for 5 years with no sound issues. sounded great on my turntable. Occasionally when turning on while amp is on the speakers will pop at first. I just turn this unit on first before the amp and have no pop sound. The Treble knob is very hard to turn but loosens up after a while. could be adjusted inside but i never opened it. Overall this unit worked great on my system but moved onto a McIntch pre-amp so Ill pass this on Sorry no returns because its an electronic devise, but rest assured it is in working order and you will love the sound.

Both channels work, there are some static noises when moving the controls which is probably typical for the age. Includes the original box. I will pack this into a larger box for shipping, especially as the rack mount panel is too long for the original box.

This modest preamp with its two phono stages is a wonderful sounding unit. While the unit was in proper working condition when we acquired it, we recapped the power supply section with Nichicon modern electrolytics as preventative maintenance. All the pots and switches were cleaned, and then treated them with Deoxit F5 and D5 respectively. This preamp has been in use since it was purchased new by the original owner. It was paired with a Hafler DH-200 amplifier, and ran a pair of Dahlquist DQ-10s. Included with the preamp are the original assembly/instruction manual, promo sheet, and poster of the wiring layout. The unit was well cared for, there are some light scratches and blemishes, but the unit is in very good physical condition, and presents itself very well. See pictures for further details. We dont have the original box for this unit, but we take packaging and shipping seriously. We spare no expense and use heavy duty boxes, several inches of polyethylene foam on all sides of the unit, and use water activated, fiber reinforced tape on all seams. this was an originally upgraded and complete DH101 that was tested, working, and ready to go. then I needed an unobtanium part from the Hafler. i then took apart this working unit and the parts are nowup for auction on eBay: chassis&covers, front panel, andin this auction, the circuit board. completely recapped - replacing those super old (40 Yearsold) electrolytic capacitors with modern-day selected versions. this includes replacing the old coupling caps with WIMAs etc topped off with a signature BLUE LED. it is time-consuming and tedious to upgrade caps in-situ. it felt like forever. however, using this board you unsolder each from the old board and solder that connection to thenew board. One at-a-time prevents mis-wiring. about 20 connections. this new board has two helpfulaids: 1) the original wire was clipped off to help you locate the solder joint, and 2) there is a black dot next tothe solder connection. No returns - I have no idea how skillful you are, nor how accurate you are in troubleshooting ifsomething goes wrong. However, if you use the eBay not as described to return this, you pay return shipping, and $100 as a restocking fee for me to troubleshoot what,if any, damage resulted. you could also use this board as the heart ofa new preamp, eliminating all those optionsthat were necessary in the 1980s like(external processing unit, tone controls,tape I/O, mono, etc). do note that if you do use this board you will have to find vol/balance, treble, and bass pots. Personally,I would eliminate the tone controls, wire in fixedbalance resistors, and use a high-quality ALPS volume control ( or Noble or...). thanks for looking
