This is a really nice Carver CT-6 Preamplifier with an integrated AM / FM tuner. This is one of Carvers creations using the Sonic Holography feature (switchable on and off). Ive had it hooked up to a NAD 2400PE amplifier, and its fun to tinker with speaker and listening position using the holography mode. Very cool — youll be shocked at what it can do to the soundstage. This unit is working great and has no real blemishes except the plastic button part of the main tactile power switch has been replaced by a 3D printed plastic cover somewhere along the way. What you see in the closeup photos is that replacement button cover. The underlying switch is original, and power on/off works just fine with the replacement button cap. Its been cleaned, and switches and potentiometers have been deoxidized. This one is super thin (just about 2 tall, including the rubber feet and 19 wide measured at the outside of the rack mount front panel — the main body is a bit narrower behind that. These are wooden ruler measurements, so if you have a tight fit in a cabinet or something, let me know, and I can get more precise dimensions for you. Given the low-profile size, there are plenty of inputs for phono, CD, Video, Aux, Tape 1 and Tape 2 (along with Tape outs). The AM/FM tuner has 10 memory buttons with an alternate mode, so you have 20 presets. The remote has been lost somewhere along the way, so thats not included. It works with any stereo input, including CDs, tapes, records, FM broadcasts, VHS Hi-Fi video soundtracks, etc., and does not require additional speakers. It DOES, however, require careful set-up and speaker placement. In other words, youll have to take some time and read the instructions carefully to fine-tune Sonic Holography® to your room and speakers... but the results can be absolutely astonishing.
