The SD/A-450 has multiple audio output options, including digital coaxial RCA and stereo L/R RCA. It employs triple-beam laser scanning, full remote control, random play, and a Bitstream Conversion Linear Single Bit D/A Converter. Carvers version of their Digital Time Lens circuit called Soft EQ sets the SD/A-450 apart from other CD Players by providing an extremely sophisticated circuit which prevents the loss of sonic front-to-back depth imaging, as well as the excessive brightness sometimes associated with compact disc recordings. How and when you use it depends on your choice of discs, your type of speakers, and your own musical taste. This package includes a remote control and the owners manual for easy operation. This Carver SD/A-450 CD player is in excellent working condition with only a minor surface blemish on the cd changer (which is visible in pictures). Carver CD player for parts, as-is. The player does power on. When you press the open button to load a CD, the drawer will not open; with the cover off I nudged the drawer from the back and after the first little bit the drawer will continue to open the rest of the way. The drawer does close by itself when I press the button. Sometimes when I load a CD, the player does not recognize it and refuses to play. Other times, it will play but sometimes skips. The buttons on the front seem to work when playing. Physically, the player looks pretty good.
