Up for sale is a gorgeous pair of B&W Nautilus 805 bookshelf speakers. These have been the pride and joy of my collection for a couple of years, but Ive had less time to enjoy them lately so its time that they move into a new home. The speakers are in fantastic condition with only extremely minor cosmetic wear. One of the speakers has a small surface mark on the side, a small dent in its tweeter, and one very small scuff on the back underneath the crossover (all pictured.) The dent in the tweeter has no effect on the sound quality. Both speakers sound amazing. The grilles are included, and all pegs are intact with no rips or tears in the grille fabric.

When it did open we were able to play some of our CD’s but others it did not read. The eye likely needs cleaning as well. After finding these issues we stopped testing. The cosmetics on this unit are very nice and there is just signs of light wear and tear to the cabinet as shown in the photographs. This is a classic Proceed by Madrigal (Mark Levinson) audio/video preamp. It is in great shape overall and sounds fantastic. The display works perfectly, which is rare. Includes an aftermarket remote that replicates all of the original remotes functions (most of the navigation is done via on-screen display anyway). Cosmetically, the unit is very good. The front face is near-perfect. There are some VERY minor paint chips on the back top edge, and 1-2 minor scratches on the top. Otherwise, it is excellent cosmetically. This preamp is a bit dated for A/V use, as it has no HDMI inputs (composite RCA and S-video only). But for a vintage system, or as an audio-only preamp, it is amazing. As I mentioned, it has on on-screen display and is able to learn which inputs are active, greatly simplifying setup. Sold for $4200 in 1994 dollars (over $9000 today); get this one for a fraction of the price! Includes the preamp, power cable, remote and a printout of the owners manual.

Welcome to my store, WriteVinyl If you are looking at this preamp, you know this is something special. Im letting this audiophile preamp go at a bargain price. The UltrAmp by MoFi is an outstanding audiophile component that you dont find very often for sale. Michael Lee designed an extremely musical preamp for MoFi. I found its holographic imaging to be its greatest strength. It is one of the most detail emitting preamps I have owned. I paired it with mono amps and later with 2 channel amps, all synced nicely with this preamp (I let go those amps to move to NAIM and LFD integrated amps). I havent used the UltrAmp for several years, storing it safely away in a closet in my listening room, thinking I would eventually go back to mono blocks. . . No phono stage, which was the normal trim option set by MoFi. I used different phono preamps with MM and MC pickups. Adding an internal phono preamp was an optional item the buyer could select when the preamp was custom built. From the web: The UltrAmp Line Amplifier and UltrAmp Power Amplifier are part of a new series of components from Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, long a source of top-quality recordings. The units are hand assembled in the U.S. and tested by designer Michael Yee. The UltrAmp preamplifier has relatively simple features: A selector for six line-level inputs, a combination muting and tape monitor switch with positions for two tape decks, and controls for volume and balance. It does, however, have sophisticated electronics. Each channel of this dual mono design has a separate line stage plus a separate buffer stage for tape outputs to ensure that interconnect cables and tape recorder inputs do not interact with the source. The preamp does not include a phono gain stage, but one is available from the manufacturer at extra cost. The UltrAmp preamp has double regulation on the power supplies, separate ground planes for each channel, and a direct signal path without a.c. coupling capacitors; it uses conductive plastic potentiometers and silver plated high-conductivity switches. Total harmonic distortion is rated at less than 0.02%, signal-to-noise ratio at 90 dB, and gain at 12 dB. The input impedance is 10 kilohms, and the output impedance is 100 ohms.
