Here is my Denon DRA-835R from the 90s and retailed for $749 at the time and was next to the top-of-the-line 1035R that retailed for $1000 and there is a great review on Stereophile that is very informative. I have had many stereo receivers over the last 35 yrs. and this Denon is the best of all of them hands down but at $750 it was more expensive than the Yamaha,H/K that come to mind. Requiring nearly 6 amps this is a powerhouse amp and has the best FM reception i have found. The Pre-out button is also far better than jumper pins. The pre-out is always hot and can be configured in many ways with the flip of the switch. I have cleaned the controls with De-Oxit fader lube which isnt as harsh as the full strength. I purchased this beauty several months back and i also found a remote for the TOTL 1035R that functions the critical volume etc. The Denon RC-770 will come with this 835R. The faceplate looks great and there are only a few very minor scratches on the case and it works perfectly. I purchased this to keep but things happen so i must let her go unfortunately. This is one awesome amplifier. It sounds like its tube driven! There is nothing I dont like about it..just check out the specs Marantzs original Quarter A circuit is used. Up to 1/4 (quarter) of the maximum output, it operates in pure A class, and beyond that, it automatically shifts to AB class and exhibits 100W output. In addition, the PM-74D is equipped with an AVSS that shifts the output supply voltage in conjunction with Quarter A. By shifting the output supply voltage according to the power, the AVSS allows the power element to operate in a region where distortion and noise are minimized. This allows the power element to operate in an ideal state at all power levels. A direct switch connected directly to the flat amplifier is mounted on the CD and Phono inputs. CD Direct is directly connected to the flat amplifier just by passing through the volume, and Phono Direct is played through the shortest path between the phono amplifier, volume, flat amplifier, andpower amplifier. A direct coupling with a low-noise FET is used for a high-level input such as CD to improve the SN ratio. The circuit design of the preamplifier section has been completely revised, and an AIE (Absolute Isolated Earth) circuit is mounted. In the AIE circuit, the ground of the left and right Chan Luu is completely separated to eliminate crosstalk distortion and improve the separation. It has 7 input lines and 2 output lines. The phono input uses a differential circuit plus 2-pole compensation phono dedicated IC with a high-Gm ultra-low-noise FET. Kharma is a very high end company. These are very nice amplifiers. They both work with no issues. I’m selling to try something new. These have a very smooth presentation. There are positive reviews of these amplifiers online. They do not sound like any class d amplifiers that you have heard. I’ve had several pairs and these are by far the best. They do have a tube sound. The sound is very balanced. One led light is brighter than the other but has no effect on performance. Thank you for looking. Made in the Netherlands.

I initially listened to it using a Musical Paradise MP 701 mkII tube preamp and 3 pairs (less than $800 per pair) speakers since my Vandersteen 2c speakers were being repaired. After listening for a few days I decided it wasn’t for me and listed the Weiliang amp on eBay. Luckily around the same time I found a great deal on a Rotel 1552 MkII class AB amp to replace it with. A day or two later my Vandersteens were finally fixed so I decided to try out the Weiliang amp with them. I immediately took the Weiliang off eBay so I could listen more. After about 30 minutes of amp warmup it sounded good. Really good. I spent about a week going back and forth trying to decide whether to keep the Weiliang or the Rotel. Mind you to Rotel now retails for $1499. I obviously ultimately chose the Rotel but it was not an easy decision. With the right speaker and proper warm up this is an incredible little amplifier.
