Fantastic example of a well cared for Yamaha M-80 and C-80! Class A or A/B amp with 250 wpc into 8 ohms, the M-80 is an absolute monster and the bouncing red LEDs are positively sinister looking. It is stable down to 2 ohms! The C-80 is extremely well made with parametric EQs, several loading options for the MM/MC phono section, and tone bypass and loudness options which many love Yamaha for. Both 100% tested and working. I have gone through them and removed the corrosive glue that these are known to have. I have cleaned the controls and listened to this pair as my main system for a month to ensure that they are working nicely. Unit has different screws and washers underneath case to hold it together. The screw mounts in the plastic are broken this is the reason for this. It holds together solid but this creates a slight gap in the case fitting, see pictures for best description.

Yamahas flagship combo in the 80s and highly desireable. Upgraded speaker terminals on this unit accept banana type plugs! This was my main set-up before I switched to all Onkyo. Truth is, this set actually sounds a bit better, but I like the fit and finish of Onkyo better. Just look at the specs on these units from HiFi Engine below. Goodluck finding anything today that matches for thousands more. Both units work as they should and are solid. Just look at how much 70s-80s Yamaha gear is still working 40 years later! C-80 preamp is parts only. I think the main volume knob is bad. Probably some dirty switches and pots too. Some bad caps or icky glue may be at work as well. See the pics for the missing piece above the selector buttons. Ive included the matching T-80 tuner as parts only as well. It works (see pics) but has some intermittent issues.

This 200WPC Amp/ preamp is working well and sounds great. Check the pictures for a couple scratches otherwise she would be perfect. Remote is good, too
