Here’s a snippet from a review:‘…Like the B-1 V-FET masterpiece, the C-1 is one of the few preamplifiers that became an instant landmark in audio design. Inside All-FET, with small-signal V-FETS in some of its stages, constant-current / constant-load / current-mirror / fully-stabilized ±100V / ±33V EQ section, metal film, styrol and mylar caps, separate amp for headphones and a 4-gang volume control. Front Variable loudness, acoustic & presence tone shaping plus regular bass/treble with 2-position center/turnover frequencies for all, 4-frequency tone generator plus pink noise position, front pre-out and tape i/o, MIC inputs, 6-position phono impedance trims for inputs 1 & 2 (separately !), pre-out or rec-out meters switch with attenuator - and then some. For sale is this super rare YPC-1 passive preamp. It is masterpiece by Yamaha, designed to pair with the legendary MX-D1 digital amp. While simple, this preamp is an absolute statement piece showcasing the best Yamaha could do. Its heavy and built with only high-end parts. It is actually a fantastic match with a bunch of other Yamaha amps; The YPC-1 with my B-3 is the best combination of Yamaha gear Ive ever had, and Ive tried many. These days Im using a streamer/DAC combo for simplicity, and I have not been using it. I figure someone might want one for their MX-D1; with an original MSRP of $2k, these are extremely hard to find. The unit is in almost pristine condition with no blemishes or any issues at all.
