Tube preamp with MM phono stage. The tubes shown installed in the pictures are either NOS or tested really well. Im also including a set of NOS tubes. The unit does work. However, a little background noise on the right channel between songs when using the phono stage which is why Im listing it for parts not working. Decca FFSS mono cartridge (X prefix stands for mono), serial number 1886. Strictly speaking, the mono heads are not FFSS (full frequency stereophonic sound) heads but FFRR (full frequency range recording) heads. However, FFSS is commonly used as the term for referring to these wonderful-sounding Decca cartridges with a unique snap-on design -- for mounting onto Decca FFSS arms, or onto other tonearms (such as SME) by using an adapter. About 6 or 7 years ago, the cartridge was serviced by John Wright of UK who cleaned and tested the cartridge and gave it a clean bill of health (see last photo). I have rarely used the cartridge after servicing; I would say no more than 3 hours. As you can see from the photos, the cartridge is in excellent condition visually. The needle is sharp and clean. Before listing, I have tested the cartridge and it worked flawlessly and sounded great. You can see and hear it in the video. Please note that the listing is for the Decca mono cartridge only; the other items you see in the video are NOT part of the sale. To keep shipping and handling cost reasonable, this will be sent from Hong Kong by Registered Airmail Packet which provides what the Hong Kong Post Office calls Partial Tracking. I have included an image of what this preamp looks like in good cosmetic condition. I got it this way and have no idea how the cases could have gotten this scratched. With that said the unit plays amazing. It has 3 inputs and a phono stage. Tubes on the power supply are 6E7 and 6X4. The control box runs 4-6ER5s and 2-12AU7 ( I believe). Include 2 bags of untested extra tubes. New volume pots installed. I have found the bottoms plates. I will add new rubber and reinstall. In good cosmetic condition this is a $750 preamp.

For Sale is a hand made audiophile tube preamplifier, made by Mod Wright Industries, model LS100. This Preamp is in excellent condition, complete in box with all original packing materials and accessories. excellent sound quality and has home theater bypass feature to allow integration into surround sound systems. This unit is in need of tubes (2x 6SN7 signal tubes and 1x 5AR4/GZ34 rectifier tubes) as the stock tubes have high hours on them. The right rube lets a slight background noise through once its warmed up and I have swapped the tubes and it follows to the left and I have tried with a borrowed set of tubes and all is corrected. I am not sinking any more money in this for new tubed as I already have my new preamp and this is not being used any longer. Mod Wright still builds these so you can buy a phono stage from them if you would like, but I used an outboard unit. XLR input and output are single ended so keep that in mind if connecting to amplifiers with actual balanced XLR connections, as they will pick up the ground noise from the single ended connection in the preamp. Anhand der Serien-Nummer konnte ich herausfinden, dass es sich um das Modell auf den beiden Fotos handelt. Die schwarz-weiß-Version ist testweise angebracht. Das Farbexemplar ist gedruckt und dabei. Ich hatte immer mal vor, das auf eine Alucobondplatte zu drucken - kam leider nicht dazu. Der Vorverstärker wurde mittels Regeltrafo hochgefahren und getestet - er geht an. Er spielt sogar. Die Cinch-Buchsen geben aber keinen guten Kontakt mehr, diese müssten getauscht werden. Gleichwohl wird das Gerät als Ersatzteil / defekt verkauft. Dieser seltene Vorverstärker kann ein wertvolles Stück für Sammler und Enthusiasten darstellen.
