No original packaging or physical product manual. This is a high quality Analog to Digital Converter for High Quality stereo audio listening. This is a product from Van Alstine which is considered by many, to manufacture Audiophile quality components. Who needs this? This product can add two additional analogsources to a digital preamplifier, or DAC. But its not limited to just that. I own a Digital Power Amplifier that only has one input, a digital coax input(SPDIF). The Peachtree Gan 1. This unit allowed me to bypass a DAC, by directly connecting an analog pre-amp(with a Phono input) via one of two RCA analog inputs on the DVA A2D. No Box, or cables, Comes with separate Van Alstine -supplied High quality power transformer. This reduces the noise that may have been introduced by having the power transformer inside the chassis.

You are bidding on a used Van Alstine Ultra II EC hybrid vacuum tube preamplifier, made in the USA. Uses two 12AT7/ECC81 vacuum tubes and mosfet output buffers; the pair that are in it now are higher end Gold Lion Cryoset Certified select tubes. Van Alstine is known for excellent quality. This is a personal piece of gear, not one that came in thru the business. This is in excellent condition, one minor scratch on the top left (hard to see actually), and the volume knob seems to have a small white paint spot (see pic) which can probably be cleaned off if it bothers you. This is a full featured preamplifier, even has the rare tone controls which are no longer available on the current Van Alstine models. As far as I know, everything works, I have been using this in my office to play CDs mostly and it works flawlessly, very musical. As far as I know, it does not have the optional phono circuit as I believe it would say it on the back serial number label (I sold off my LP collection years ago so have never had the need to see if Special is for phono....). As per the instructions, you should always turn the preamp on first followed by the amplifier second a bit later otherwise youll hear a pop thru the speakers due to the transients in the preamp circuits. Heres the history: I bought this in late 2018 direct from Van Alstine. It was a trade in from the original owner on a new piece of gear. So was completely checked out by Van Alstine at that time and received a clean bill of health. Originally manufactured in 2011. See last pic for the original Van Alstine online ad. For sale is a Dynaco Super PAS Three preamp, the Audio by Van Alstine total rebuild. I purchased this unit because I had a vintage Dynaco PAS 3X preamp which required so much work to make it listenable that I just gave up and purchased this plug and play version instead. Its a night and day improvement over the stock Dynaco. Gone is the noise, the veil, the clunky knobs and controls on the stock Dynaco PAS. This is the 1988 version of the acclaimed Super PAS Three from Audio by Van Alstine (AVA). Everything inside the chassis has been updated: both PC 5 and PC 6 circuit boards, the volume and balance pots, a new ceramic selector switch and the jacks. The faceplate is the AVA solid silver version with no holes for tone controls. The wiring on this unit is much cleaner than on the vintage PAS. I believe that small things like this matter (less crosstalk, less noise). All of the capacitors were replaced in 2011. The tubes are JJ branded ECC-83S (four total) and one old stock 12X4 rectifier tube. I sent this preamp to Frank Van Alstine himself and he checked it out for me. No problem and no charge! Unfortunately, this preamp got very little use, only a few days. Im having problems with amps and speakers and just decided to move on. I tested the tubes on a Hickok Model 6000 Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tube Tester. A new ECC-83S should read 1250 micromhos on both plates. The JJ tubes in this unit measured 1100/1050, 950/1250, 950/900, and 900/1000. All tubes sound good to my ears. The 12X4 rectifier tube was also well within the good range on both plates. I will pack the unit with all tubes removed from their sockets, each wrapped in bubble wrap, and placed inside the chassis.
