Cueing device, Solid Oak cabinet, Isolator feet & Suspended chassis.Refurbishments & Upgrades:All internal & external working parts have been properly cleaned, serviced, polished, oiled & greased where appropriate - all are in perfect working condition. The underside of the chassis has been properly isolated using high quality dampening material. This removes unwanted vibrations and improves the sound presentation. The old & rather flimsy plinth has been replaced with a brand new solid English Oak custom built plinth. It looks stunning & adds much needed mass & support to the deck. The base board has holes precisely positioned to allow access to the springs without having to remove the board - an excellent feature & perfect for tweaking the suspension. It comes fitted with four high quality isolation feet. The plinth has a gold plated RCA socket fitted, so perfect for setting up & swapping cables. The deck comes with a new pair of 75cm long Silver plated copper core interconnects with gold plated RCA connectors.Cleaned & oiled the platter bearing & spindle using Van Den Hul turntable oil, runs perfectly smoothly.Polished the heavy platter edge to a beautiful shine.Fitted to this is a the original Thorens TP16 tonearm. Its clean and fully functional & comes fitted with the iconic original headshell. A superb example of this classic tonearm & comes fitted with an A&R Cambridge cartridge & NOS E77 stylus, widely regarded as a fine sounding MM cartridge & a good match with this tonearm/deck. Set up correctly using Thorens geometry. Replaced the old perished mat with a good quality & heavy Rotel mat with a genuine leather top mat.Built in 1975, the TD160 is very well designed and famed for its outstanding reliability. A classic turntable that is often listed in the top 10 essential turntables of all time. It was built to last using high quality components. Quite in operation, it is very simple to operate (manual - plug in and play). Fully set up and calibrated prior to listing and passing the Bounce Test with flying colours at an impressive 8-10 seconds! Vintage Thorens TD 160B Mark 1 Turntable. Housed in a new Mark 2 plinth and lid in original packaging. Cut for SME arm with armboard, tested and working well. Excellent condition overall. Delicate but heavy item to be collected in person by arrangement either from South Manchester or South Wales Valleys or possibly anywhere in between the two that's close to M6 M5 and M50 roads and agreed in advance.

Thorens Td160b Face Plate and Inner Platter. Td160 plinth - looks like it is from a much later model. This has a much finer veneer than the original TD160 plinth and looks like it is Mdf rather than chipboard as per the 1970a original. The colour is darker as well more like rosewood. The plinth has cutouts for lid hinges and it doesn’t have the aluminium strip on the front upon which the lid rests when shut.
