For your consideration is what I believe is the best belt-drive turntable Thorens ever made, at least without modifications. The TD125 usually gets all the recognition, but I think in stock form, the 147 with its better arm, better plinth and simpler speed control design (good luck dealing with the gremlins the 125s are plagued with) is the better machine. Looks way better too with its gorgeous rosewood veneer. This one is way rarer too, and it seldom comes up for sale in the US. It has a 10mm platter bearing like the 160 and above models, and auto lift like the 145 and above models. This unit is in good to excellent cosmetic condition with the exception of the dustcover, which has some sort of glue residue. It may or may not buff out (I never tried it), but please take it into consideration when bidding. Guess you can always buy a new dustcover if push comes to shove. The plinth is gorgeous with veneer almost intact, save for a couple minor blemishes that are difficult to see from a distance (see pics). Operates silently, with no motor pulley wobble at all, and seems to keep good speed, even with the old belt I used to test it. See video of it in action here. No cartridge/stylus included in the sale. No belt will be included either. Note that the original Thorens AC adapter gave up the ghost a while back and it was replaced with a third party adapter with much better current and power handling specs. This one should last a while. Due to the vintage nature of the turntable and the fact that it needs some work, it is being sold as is, no returns.
