Pulled these from a pair of Thiel CS1.5. They were working, but I melted off the leads like a chimpanzee trying to work a soldering gun. They could be made to work again, but itd be a repair job. One tweeter also has a small dent.

I have one SCS2 speaker for sale, which was lightly used as a center channel speaker in a McIntosh/Thiel home theater system. I have owned the speaker for over 20 years (I believe I am the second owner), and the sale includes the original box, as shown in the photos. I have uploaded several pictures, which show that cosmetic condition of the speaker is excellent (near mint). The sound quality is also excellent; I listened to it last week, and I believe it sounds the same as when I bought it 20 years ago. The speaker still has the original foam plugs that are used to block the small cabinet ports when extra bass response is not needed. (I always used these plugs because I didn’t need extra bass from the center channel.) The speaker was professionally serviced once. Ten years ago (2014), I noticed that the ferrofluid in the tweeter had dried up, muffling its sound. I sent the tweeter out to Fab Audio (in Canada), who refreshed the tweeter with new ferrofluid. The speaker has been operating correctly ever since then. In my view, a potential buyer should view this servicing as a plus, as the tweeter with relatively new ferrofluid will likely work for many years.

Folks- this is a rare and hard-to-find Vifa M10MD-39-08 midrange driver. Coated paper cone, rubber surround, magnesium alloy frame, vented double-stacked magnet. A finely crafted driver from Denmark. This is the midrange driver as used in Thiel CS2 speakers. Not sure what other models it was the OEM midrange for. Note that if you are going to use in a Thiel CS2 you may need to cut the flange to fit correctly up against the tweeter. (This is what Thiel did). As you can see this was produced the 44th week of 1985. Nearing 40 years old!!! Wow. In good operational condition, no functional issues. Note that some paint is chipping/missing around the screw holes and on the rear of the mounting flange. This is definitely working and functional and will be packed carefully. Please ensure your speaker is working correctly as I cannot accept returns in the event you have a bad crossover or something that causes damage to this. There are two minor blemishes on the left speaker (see photos). Those can easily be repaired with a light sanding and some poly clear coat. I recently upgraded to home theatre. Would love for these classics to get a good home where they will be appreciated. They are heavy (65 lbs. each). If they need to be shipped I will wrap them like a mummy and double box. If you want to pick up, I live in Gulf Shores, AL. No speaker grills, they look much better without them. Buyer pays actual insured shipping (will ship in two boxes)..

The Thiel CS2.2 is a 3-way floorstanding speaker with a passive radiator. A passive radiator gives you a great amount of bass from a limited size cabinet, while also assisting the main woofer. At the top youll find a very capable midrange and aluminum tweeter. The sloped designs develop perfect time alignment which results in incredible imaging. The finish is a gorgeous medium oak which will look great in most living rooms. These speakers were tested in our lab and in our listening room where they sounded terrific. Really big sound for their footprint. Very responsive and great bass response. Note speaker terminal connectors are on bottom so you cannot use bananas. These are available for local pickup only.
