Technics RS-M255X Stereo Cassette Deck With dbx Noise Reduction DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY! The deck chatters when fast forwarding and rewinding causing the tape to lose and regain tension rapidly and harshly. This WILL ruin tapes. There is a spring that sits behind the main reel gear that is missing a clip, so proper tension on the gear for high speed forward and reverse is missing. We also believe this deck will need at least some capacitors replaced sooner rather than later. Its a spaghetti mess of wire inside also. We did fully disassemble this deck, cleaned it, painted the top cover and replaced the belts and pinch roller. This deck seems to play and record okay but really does not like low quality tapes. We are selling this as a parts or repair project only and are not accepting returns for any reason.
