This 901ES was in my shop and in came up in the cue. Since the heads were in great condition I considered modifying this deck to make it better than stock I have replaced the belts & rollers in both mechanisms with precision made kits from fixyouraudio. The bearings and capstans have been cleaned with front and rear bearing restoration and oiling to achieve uniform pitch. Each motor has been cleaned and has been sufficiently oiled to maintain balance and even pitch. All the grime and dirt was removed with my heat treatment method. The mechanisms run much quieter as a result in all operations. The Rear RCA connector has been replaced. I recapped both the Dolby and calibration boards of the deck and modified them with better capacitors such as Nichicon Fine Gold & Wima film caps in the Dolby Chips at 5% tolerance instead of the factory 20% tolerance. Total of 10 wima caps implemented instead of the traditional electrolytic. The deck bias and levels tapes up in auto cal much faster and accurately as a result. The playback and recording sections have been recapped with Nichicon Muse & Fine Gold. I upgraded the op amps in both wells with OPA2227P affixed to 8 pin gold plated socket for better sound performance. The main filter capacitor was upgraded to a Nichicon Gold Tune 10000 uF 25V snap in to lower the initial noise floor. The deck is in a high performance configuration now. Records on all tape types with ease. These exclusive mods were from my design to execute a proper signal. The deck has been carefully gone through and adjusted to IEC standard in full track Level 315 Hz 0 dB, fine level 1 kHz -10 dB, Phase comparator, Azimuth 16 kHz -20 dB. Speed evaluation check adjustment within spec. This will be guaranteed with a 1 year warranty. There are minor cosmetic scratches on the front panel and side panels. For the age it is typical, but the sound quality is now anything but typical. A hidden gem ????

This listing is for a Bose (Series vi) Version 2 Active Equalizer for use with Bose 901 Series vi Speakers. I purchased this unit new from Front Row Electronics in NYC in 2016 and used it occasionally for a few years in a secondary system.
