SONY Walkman WM-FX193 Stereo Cassette Player FM/AM Radio TESTED Working.

Please see the condition description for what I found while testing this item. Therefore, this could be used either as an FM/tape player, if you want the AM band too this may require some fiddling with. Tape function tested as best I can but I cannot promise it wont need a new belt. It worked last I used it with tapes but that was some time ago (See below). Its a lot better than parts only, but isnt perfect. That it still works in this condition is testimony to the build quality, as I took this with me anytime I had to travel somewhere for more than half an hour for most of 2000-2003, when I upgraded to a Sony CD FM/AM digital radio Walkman. Since then it has sat in my drawer (without batteries being left in it) and after new batteries were inserted, has turned on first time twenty years later! Some of the prices being charged for these are as low as £10 and upwards of £30 for parts only. Therefore pricing mine is tricky given all of the above. I think £22.99 is fair. You potentially get a fully working example with a little bit of attention to the selector button, at the very least you get an example that is mostly functioning well and could still be used for good working parts.

Vintage Sony Walkman Cassette Players Radio WM-FX193. Fm and am radio workings led turns on and all radio related buttons seems to work well. Can’t get the tape parts to spin. Not sure if this is because I haven’t put a tape it in and it may not respond unless it has one in? It makes a very very slight vibration as if it wants to spin. Also with headphones in, you can hear an electrical change when the buttons are pressed Could be a very simple fix. May we’ll be in perfect working order but I haven’t tested it to someone else’s full knowledge

Selling these two vintage Sony Walkman cassette/radio players. These are the WM-FX193 (silver) and WM-FX17 (black) models and come complete with a set of Sony headphones. The bodies of both units are in great condition for their age and show only very light signs of use. The belt clip is missing on the silver one. The units have both been tested with the headphones and the radios both work fine. However the cassette players don’t function on either. The buttons can be pressed and the mechanisms appear to be trying to function but the cassettes won’t play, fast forward or rewind. It’s possible that both just need a good clean inside as they’ve not been used for many years. The battery compartments show some minor signs of corrosion but they have been given a clean and both units still power up as they should so this isn’t a real issue.
