Description
This remote is really, really cool. Read all about it following the notes below. NOTES Specific to this individual unit: I do find the jog dial a bit touchy. It certainly works, but I prefer the experience with the included stylus. I was able to program the remote to run my TV quite easily. Sleep mode comes quite quickly, but boot up is very fast. I suppose it may be possible to adjust sleep time and jog dial sensitivity, but that is beyond my expertise of this remote. I do recommend high quality alkaline batteries and, perhaps, a new lithium backup in the near future. DESCRIPTION OF CAPABILITIES I found this description of actual usage in a sold listing for this remote. It says it all: From Amazon: This thing does it all. Some of the features of this remote control are it has a Touch Screen LCD with back light. You can personalize each device name for each screen, It has a lithium standby battery to prevent loss of data when exchanging regular AA batteries or when remote is stored for periods without any batteries in unit. Pre-programmed commands for over 50 devices including all major Brands such as Sony, Philips, Toshiba, Samsung, GE, Hamlin, Jerrold,Oak, Panasonic, Pioneer, RCA, Scientiff, Zenith, Tocom, Denon,Fisher, JVC, Kenwood, Magnavox, Marantz, Onkyo, Sanyo, Sharp,Teac, Technics, Yamaha, Nakamichi, Aiwa, Harman,Sansui,Blaupunkt, Goldstar, Grundig, Nokia, NEC, Siemens,Admiral, Akai. This thing even has pre-programmed controls for satellite and cable boxes from Jerald to Scientific Atlanta. You can even setup 10 separate, completely customizable screen pages with 8 separate customizable, including name of feature, device boxes on each page for a total of 80, set your way, remote commands, in any order, from any remote, (Learned). For example, if you dont like the way the page is setup because you want certain features from different devices on the same page set it that way. Grab one of your ten customizable user pages, grab a setup box from the easy setup menu, name it anything you want, push the learn code from the touch screen, push the button on one of your original remotes or universal remotes for the code you want and presto, instant new button on your User page. On mine I have the first user screen setup to control my Xbox 360, my Vizio HD TV, and my Yamaha A/V receiver all on the same screen page. Their so easy to change and place on each page that I found myself changing them as time went by because I saw which commands I used the most, in which order and from which device. After a few days of just using my User screen pages I have them set up perfect for me. Ill be honest, even though the remote has hundreds of different pre configured device pages I use none of them. I use the hide feature to hide the factory presets and my remote powers up with my pages exclusively. Since you have 10 pages to use, with 8 commands per page, I have every device in my house covered including my air-conditioner and remote controlled Lexar fan with 4 pages left in case I add more items down the road. When you go to the Sony product support page and look up this remote you will be stunned when you see the price this remote retails for. It retails for over $450.00. I found a deal and purchased mine for $200 and it is worth every penny.
