For sale is a near mint Conrad Johnson PV5 preamplifier. Many agree the PV5 is their best vintage preamp and this one has been fully serviced and restored by Bill Thalmann of Music Technology (may he rest in peace). Bill was one of the original engineers at Conrad Johnson and designed many of their flagship products. A true legend. Warm tube sound with the right level of Conrad Johnson authority. The PV5 has 5 inputs including a superb sounding MM phono input. It also has 4 outputs (2 tape outs and 2 amplifier outs). The only mark of note on the preamp is a small rub on the volume control. Service included replacement of any parts out of tolerance, new tubes, replacement of power cable with an IEC power supply. The service also included upgrading of the final output coupling caps to V-Cap ODAM bypassed with OS polystyrene caps. A very expensive upgrade! At the time the upgrade cost as much as I am listing the preamp for - but well worth it in every way. I acquired this preamp several years ago from the original owner and it was restored in 2022 by Bill. I am only selling because I have a PV1 (also serviced by Bill) and I want to send this along to the next CJ fan. The preamp is superbly packaged to ensure a safe arrival. Shipping is via FedEx and includes full insurance.

Awesome sounding 80wpc GAS combo. Works and sounds great. Includes original manual for the Son of Ampzilla. Thoebe works and is in decent original condition. Son of Ampzilla has a scratch on one of the meter glass and has a buzz on initial power up that goes away after a couple seconds. I listen to this setup daily and it sounds fantastic. Zusammen mit der Endstufe Ampzilla hat der ehemalige SAE-Entwickler hier in Eigenregie den Höhepunkt in Sachen Klang erreicht. Noch heute bei vielen Sammlern und Audiophilen extrem beliebt. Wegen des damals extrem hohen Anschaffungspreis gibt es entsprechend wenige auf dem deutschen Markt. Hier ein original 230 Volt Modell. Zum Material: Das ganze Gehäuse ist aus eloxiertem bzw. lackiertem Edelstahl. Das macht sich nicht nur im Gewicht bemerkbar. Das Gerät wirkt extrem wertig und hat eine hohe Anfassqualität. Die Knöpfe sind aus Alu, gedreht und eloxiert. Haptisch ein hervorragender Lautstärkeregler. (Lautstärke und Klangregelung mit gekapselten Alps-Potis. Auch im Inneren findet man nur selektierte Qualität. Besonders hervorheben kann man die Phono-Vorstufe. Diese ist extrem aufwändig und lässt sich optimal an die meisten MM- oder MC-Systeme anpassen. Der optische Zustand ist Gut, siehe Bilder. Gebrauchsspuren sind vorhanden. Technisch perfekt. Insgesamt ein sehr seltener Vorversärker, der seines gleichen sucht. Absolut homogener Klang mit analoger Präzision und Feinzeichnung.
