This unit has been tested for playback and recording. Both are working. I am only equipped to test the Analog Inputs (Stereo RCA). Analog input and output work perfectly. MiniDisc eject / read / write works. Display works. All buttons / knobs work. Remote works and has clean battery terminals with no evidence of corrosion. The digital inputs have not been tested, however they all have their protective covers / plugs. I have no reason to believe they will not work Some scuffs on machine, mostly on the top. The display is very good with one minor scuffs in the bottom left corner. I took photos in the light at angles to highlight the imperfections. In a real world situation they are difficult to notice. The deck has less than 1 hour of play time on it and approximately 4 hours of record time on it. Yes, less than 1 hour of total play time! The LCD screen is bright and the unit is in beautiful condition all around. All aspects of the deck are 100% functional. Notes regarding the listed play and record times. The JB930 supports Sonys Self Diagnosis system. There are numerous service and informational settings within this function, but two of them, specifically, allow you to see the total amount of play and record time on the deck. This information is displayed in hours only. In this case, since the deck has less than 60 minutes of play time, the unit shows zero hours. For the record time, Sony states that the time listed represents the amount of time the laser has been at full power. Continuous recording doesnt require the laser to run at full power all of the time so the displayed record time represents approximately 1/4 of the total recording time. So, in this case, the unit has at most, 4 hours of record time. The C17 shown is not an error code, it represents the section of the service menu youre currently in for navigation purposes (same as book chapters). Once at the Total Play or Total Rec screen, you execute it and are then brought to the value screen with the p representing play and the r representing record. It is not possible to reset or roll back these numbers, they are hard-coded in non-volatile memory. Other than a brand new unit, youll be hard pressed to find a Minidisc deck in such pristine condition with such low play and record hours. Welcome to my listing for my great sounding Sony MDS-JE440 MiniDisc Recorder. This is a classic deck from Sony and the sound quality from it is excellent. This is a feature laden deck and performs at the highest level, with the legendary reliability that we all have come to expect from Sony MiniDisc units. There are few scratches here and there but nothing major. I have deep cleaned the entire unit. The overall condition of this deck is very good. Available for purchase is a Sony MDS-JB930 Minidisc player / recorder. The deck is missing the power cord and power supply so it is being sold as for parts / not working. However, with the proper cord and power supply (part numbers listed below), the deck does work. I removed the cord and power supply as I needed them for a different JB930 that Im restoring. Prior to removing the parts I went into the service mode and noted that it has 432 play hours and 448 record hours. In addition, play and record functions were tested. Available for purchase is a used and fully functional Sony MDS-JB930 Minidisc player / recorder. The deck has 356 play hours and 13 record hours. LCD screen is bright, the unit is clean and is in very good to excellent condition for its age. The unit doesnt have a manufacture date sticker, but the JB930 was released by Sony in September of 1999. Please note this is the UK version which means its input voltage is 230. If being used in the states, a 120v to 220v step-up converter will be required. These are easily had on Amazon for around $30 - $40. To repeat, a converter will be required to use this deck in the states. Other than the input voltage and the silver body, this JB930 is identical to its black body JB930 US sibling. All LCD menus are in English and all functions are the same.
