This Sony 3120 used to belong to Casper. The lead technician at Chicagos Stereo Rehab. He restored it about 6 years ago. It sat on a display shelf most of the time after the restoration. This Sony 3120A Stereo Amplifier is from my late fathers estate. He purchased this in Japan in the late 1960s and he was a dedicated audiophile. Serial number 50069. The power output: 50 watts per channel into 8? (stereo), the frequency response was 30Hz to 100kHz and total harmonic distortion was 0.1%. It comes with the original manual. The 3120A is an upgraded version of the 3120 stereo amplifier and is considered more desirable than the 3120. I opened up the amplifier and I dont see any burned components or any visible issues (see pictures). Its a simple solid state amplifier. Given its age and the fact its unrestored I suspect the capacitors will need replacement. It powers up but I havent put it on any testing equipment or hooked it up to speakers - so its sold 100% as is for parts or restoration. It comes from a non-smoking household and is in remarkable shape given its age. The amplifier weights 17.4 lbs and this is reflected in the shipping cost. I will carefully pack and box the amplifier prior to shipping.
