Description
Product Details SK5 vacuum tube radio and record player by BRAUN of Germany. Although nearly 70 years old, it is in very good condition except for minor scuffs on the top cover and a few scratches on the body. The case was co-created by Dieter Rams, the father of German product design in the Bauhaus tradition, and Hans Gugelot, a professor at the Ulm University of Art and Design, and the turntable by Wilhelm Wagenfeldt, who studied at the original Bauhaus. This product has 3-band radio (SW, AM, FM), turntable with friction wheel drive, tone arm without weighting/anti-skating function, antenna jack for AM/FM on backboard, and connection jack for external speaker. The original pickups were replaced with ceramic pickups so that replacement needles can be easily obtained in Japan. The original pickup was originally designed to switch between EP/LP and SP, but we have decided that SP records are rarely used, so the switch knob was added as a dummy so as not to spoil the original appearance. The old capacitors, vacuum tubes, etc. have been replaced, and a conversion transformer has been installed for connecting digital devices such as iPhones, etc. The radio is in the European band, so it has been replaced with an AM radio. The radio is in the European band and can receive several AM/FM stations. Please be aware that this is an old vintage appliance that is almost 70 years old.
