Vintage Sansui P-L40 Linear Tracking Turntable Fully working and in good condition A high quality Japanese made turntable from a top manufacturer A linear tracking turntable - where the tonearm is fixed in position, and moves on the horizontal axis as the record spins. The contact made by the stylus with the groove of a record remains constant across the entirety of the media surface - presenting the stylus in the same position as the lathe's cutting head originally created the grooves. The advantage is superior tracking compared to conventional design - where the tonearm rotates from a fixed pivot point, moving the stylus across the record in an arc - imparting uneven lateral force on the grooves, leading to tracking issues which need to be overcome to ensure proper contact with record's groove modulation The tonearm contains optical sensors at its tip, allowing detection of record size, start and end point, and breaks between tracks, with an FG servo motor enabling fully automatic operation. This is said to be one of Sansui's finest linear tracking examples, with some important advantages omitted from later versions to keep production costs under control. You are getting a high quality audiophile turntable. This is a Sansui P-L50 linear fully-automatic turntable. Cosmetically the turntable is in extremely clean condition. I made a video for you to see showing the basic operations. The turntables automatic return is working. The auto-start is working. The stop function is working and the tonearm cueing up/down is working. The manual forward and return buttons are also working. The Compu/edit function is working but depending upon the sensitivity switch position you choose It may not read the proper chosen song. I found that it works well on a record with a decent space between songs. I tried it with a record with very tight spacing between songs and it sometimes went to the wrong song. The sensivity position you choose will make a difference as well as the record you play in how well the song selector positioning works. Even though the turntable is working I highly advise the winner of this auction to get the interior gears lubricated and oiled. This is a vintage turntable made in 1990 and it has been in storage for many years not being used.The highly detailed auction photos will show you the condition of the turntable and act as the auction description of it. You are getting a high quality audiophile turntable. This is a Sansui P-L50 linear fully-automatic turntable. Cosmetically the turntable is in extremely clean condition. I made a video for you to see showing the basic operations. The turntables automatic return is working. The auto-start is working. The stop function is working and the tonearm cueing up/down is working. The manual forward and return buttons are also working. The Compu/edit function is working but depending upon the sensitivity switch position you choose It may not read the proper chosen song. I found that it works well on a record with a decent space between songs. I tried it with a record with very tight spacing between songs and it sometimes went to the wrong song. The sensivity position you choose will make a difference as well as the record you play in how well the song selector positioning works. Even though the turntable is working I highly advise the winner of this auction to get the interior gears lubricated and oiled.
