The Swiss-made F. Gyger II has a super fineline profile offering excellent tracking ability with stunning detail retrieval and low surface noise. Unlike spherical and conical profiles it smoothly negotiates the groove without harming the vinyl. The Shiraz body is made from solid aluminium on a computer controlled milling machine and is threaded and supplied with non-magnetic screws for easy alignment. The robust broadcast standard generator is uniquely fixed to the body with three spikes giving it precise alignment without using distortion inducing adhesives. Excessive cantilever movements at certain frequencies are damped by the capacitors mounted directly to the generator over the coil where they accurately preserve the minute signal. The Shiraz produces a relatively high output for a moving coil design, which is important for a good signal to noise ratio and channel separation, but will need careful matching to your preamplifier phono stage. Roksan Shiraz moving coil cartridge for rebuild or trade-in This cartridge needs a full rebuild. It can be traded in for £850 discount against a new one from Roksan. (see analogueseduction website) I would send this to EMT, since it is an EMT cartridge. They will do a full rebuild to as-new. You could ship to EMT yourself, but you would need to arrange customs paperwork. Easier to let the UK EMT agent arrange things. EMT have moved to Switzerland from Germany. Price fluctuates with exchange rate against Swiss Franc. I asked UK agent late last year, rebuild price was about £1000, but that will depend on choice of stylus profile, and current exchange rate. Roksan SHIRAZ - moving coil cartridge. Was in good working order but with my butterfingers I accidently knocked the connector plug off the wire. Will need a solder, I didnt fancy giving it a go myself! Came off my uncles roksan xerxes turntable so I do not have the use history. Seems to look like plenty left on the stylus.
