Original Roksan Xerxes turntable with XPS3.5, DS-U PSUs. Tabriz arm & Corus Black cartridge. Please read the entire description below. An original Roksan Xerxes turntable with Tabriz arm and Corus Black MM cartridge all working nicely with the later XPS3.5 and DS-U power supplies, with the five-to-four pin adaptor so they can be used together. The stand in the pictures is NOT included in this listing but is available seperately. The turntable combination can be demonstrated working on collection (or before you BIN, by arrangement). Bring a record, I only have one decent one now! The turntable is around thirty-plus years old but is still working superbly. The addition of the later power supplies is welcome as both the original mkI and mkII PSUs used to get red-hot and frequently expire because of that. The 3.5 and its partnering DS-U run beautifully cool. All original Xerxes turntables suffer from plinth sag, this one is no different, however this has been completely corrected by the addition of a length of U-section steel fitted under the top plinth with a layer of insulating material between. This has only been screwed in and can be removed if you so wish. It doesnt scrape or get in the way under the plinth. The Tabriz arm is fully working with no snags in the bearings; both flow smoothly. A long Van Damme silver plated OFC arm cable is included. It is completely hum-free and not at all microphonic. The Roksan Corus Black (Gyger II stylus profile) is in great condition with minimal wear apparent. It tracks well which can be demonstrated with a very dynamic record. The lid is in very good condition with no cracks, splits or chips. One or two slight scratches of course. A new belt has been fitted (the one it came with was not an original, or indeed a suitable replacement, so it needed to be replaced). I tried several belts before being happy with the one it now has. I do object to paying £75 for a genuine belt when there are good alternatives at a more cost effective price. The motor is working well (please take great care when working with the Xerxes as the motor wires are by design very thin and fragile). A small quantity of suitable oil will also be supplied for future needs. Both main and motor bearings (including the tiny ball bearings at the bottom of each) are in good condition and operate well. This is a delicate turntable and needs some degree of technical knowhow to set up. I have set up the turntable, arm and cartridge myself having been trained by Roksan to work on their products back in the early 1990s. The original transit bolts will be fitted to maintain the setup while you transport it home. I will consider splitting the combination; please contact me if this interests you.
