Up for your consideration is this Realistic Lab 400. It is presented to you in good to excellent cosmetic shape. The dust cover although from afar looks great, close-up, it reveals scratches in areas, but generally in comparison to some players of this vintage, the dust cover is in good condition. If anything, the dust cover can be restored even further to become almost brand new looking given additional elbow grease. PLEASE keep in mind that this unit is being sold without a cartridge and head unit so that will have to be supplied separately. This unit was tested with the head unit from my main turntable, I originally heard a hum from the right channel, but I adjusted the ground lead and it seemed to do the trick. I am also thinking that the hum may have been caused by a faulty RCA cable. If that is the case, swapping out the RCA cable could be an easy fix. That aside, it plays quite nicely. Speed wise, I did not encounter any anomalies and it played to satisfaction . When operating the unit, I did not notice any issue with the auto return, as when it neared the end of a record, it would automatically come to rest. I did test the speed control on the unit and it did not seem to make any major difference on the speed playback of the record player. Perhaps the potentiometers may need to be cleaned? Since my knowledge of turntables is not extensive and given the fact that this turntable is of a certain vintage, I am as a result, selling it on an as is basis. Realistic Lab 400 turntable in excellent working condition. Holds speed at both 33 and 45 rpms. All automatic functions are working properly. All electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board as well as the motor board were replaced with modern equivalents. Power supply transistor replaced. Safety capacitors replaced on auto board. All switches, micro switches, and pots were cleaned and all contact points on the automatic assembly were cleaned and re-greased.Cueing lever re-greased and adjusted. Original headshell with Shure M91E cartridge with unknown stylus. Stylus age and wear unknown but plays well. Plinth is in very good condition with one pressed in corner. No dust cover. Original RCA cables removed and RCA connectors installed allowing use of your choice of cables. Ground wire screw removed and grounding wire extended directly from contact board. Table will be packed securely for shipment.
