I just replaced. 1 digital display chip. The display is fine. For some reason the display says” active OSD” I can’t seem to reset it so I can’t make it play sound like it should. I can’t set the outputs like I want. Because of this I’m selling it for parts. The display chips are worth the cost. The unit is in great shape otherwise. FOR PARTS!!! I don’t know if it plays music! The AV2 is for sale in another auction

They may have saved some cost on the faceplate but they didnt skimp on performance. With dual toroidal power supplies and over-engineered input and output devices its capable of driving most any load. Its also doubles output power with 4 Ohm speakers to 500 watts per channel. The HPA-2 has a warmer sound than a Krell but tends to sound more open than Bryston and other similar amplifiers in its class. It reminded us of the dynamic solid state could you get from PASS Labs amps with a slight warmer naturalness. This Amplifier is in very good cosmetic shape for its age with 1 scratch on the front (see last 2 pictures) and a a few small nicks.It is not currently operational. It turns on but when you push the power button, it shuts down. I believe it is due to the thermal protection. It may not need more than a fuse, but I am not sure. It is being sold as-is.This is a very heavy amp (94 lbs in the box) and will be expensive to ship. Its too heavy for me to keep moving around as I get older. Time for a class D amp for me, lol. Local pickup is available in Myrtle Beach SC.The box has a little water damage but the amp was not in it when it happened.Ships to the lower 48 states only. Everything works perfectly except for the display, which has a few corrupt pixels. See the last few pics, where the upper right corner of the ones digit of the volume number is missing. The sound, buttons, input-terminals, output-terminals, and the remote all function as expected. On a personal note, the sound is beautiful; Ive enjoyed this pre-amp for something like two decades.

This is a wonderful sounding preamp. I think the on board DAC is good but dark but occasionally tube like. Use with a modern dac and you will have a fantastic modern audiophile sound.
