I had been collecting Phase Linear since the 1980s. TheGentlemen in Washington State who used to work at Phase Linear are the onlyones I am aware of with larger collections. I believe they have sold most ofthese collections off. I recently realized I still have 2 huge 800 square footstereo vaults with storage racking to the ceiling full of Phase linearequipment. There is some infill of Pioneer and Carver for the units that PhaseLinear simply did not offer as options. I also have more Phase Linear fans thanI will ever use. I have collected my Phase Linear units from around the world. At one-point I had gone through ~20% of the entire 1400 series II equalizersproduction in my search for the perfect ones for my system. A full 50% of mycollection is NOS and the rest is MINT originals. You should know themanufacturing process was a rough one on the units. NOS is no guarantee of perfection.Perfection came with going through untold numbers of units in service that werecollected, and parts that were mint were interchanged out over time into oneunit (or more). I have spoken to both the designers and builders of the unitswho were charitable with their time. They shared the history, production anddesign of these beautiful units. Fully half of ALL the NOS units I procured hadblemishes on them. Even when the 4 pallets of NOS 3500 series II preamps werefound I bought a dozen of those units to get the flawless ones I have now(combined with the additional collected out in-service unit mint parts). My7000 series II tape deck alone took 20 units (including a NOS one) to get onewith absolute MINT unblemished parts. What I have left is a large collection ofvery nice units across the board of Phase Linear to sell off. It is time toenjoy the decades of collecting and hard work. There was a time I sold Phaselinear fans but I was not satisfied by the way they were turning out. So, Istopped. You might be able to tell I am a little bit obsessive andperfectionistic (to your benefit). I had collected over time several blemishedoriginal fans, spare parts as well as a collection out of an old stereo shop.Recently I thought it was time to get back to doing things right and offer themonce again. The supply of these are limited. The condition of the fans is asgood as you could ever possibly get. These were done right and are blemishfree. If there are any marks, again they are from the production process.Missing panels were replaced with laser cut mates. All finishes were doneagain, but this time in power coated finishing. This finish is a very closematch to the original finishes but far more durable. I do have a few extraoriginal unrestored 700 fan side panels if someone is interested? They aresimply left over from this process. I also have some extra Phase Linear decalsavailable. Phase Linear Fan history andmotor placement A little history about the fans. They were very very rare. I know of only about a dozen that have ever popped upfor sale outside of the ones I offer. I bought most of these back in the day.The 1970s Boxer brand fan was extremely quiet and came in from22-24db range on testing. When bringing these back to the market I found thequietists replacement motors on the planet. They are about 24db on professionalmic testing. The original motors were in this range as well. I find themquiet. If you have never had one on an amp you might notice a low level ofoperation but most do not. So far feedback has always been good. However, the level of noticeable air movement can vary. The way to get them super quietis to use a small step-down transformer (or rheostat) to dial in the rotationalspeed of the motor units (SEE NARRATIVE AND PHOTO ABOVE). That or going with a12-volt motor which would fit in the shroud but still need a transformer. Ihave never had to do it but want to be clear on the units as started in theads. The400-amp series fan is a VERY, VERY hard to find item. IT IS PROBABLY THERAREST OF ALL PHASE LINEAR ITEMS! These cooling fansreally are a must if you use your amplifiers for any length of time at all. Theheat buildup will trigger the amp to cut out despite the passive efforts of thecooling fins at the back of the units. The 400 fans reportedly fit ALL 400series I and II amps. Make sure you know your amp as Iam not an authority. I can find no literature on fit for the 400 fans.Furthermore, all photos on the Internet are actually old photos of myprior fans. These 400 fans are wider than the 700 series fan due tothe 400-fin separation being wider. The fan shroud assemblies for the 400 and700 series simply slide snugly over the cooling fins at the back and 2alligator clips then hold the shroud to the fins at the bottom. Nomodifications or work is required at all. The power chord then plugs into theback of the amp or the wall outlet if close by. The fans come with the standard1-foot length chords. Longer chords are available if needed. Just request oneat no extra cost. The D or Dual 500 fans require 2 special high tolerancemounting brackets. If you are purchasing a 500 series fan there is anadditional $15.00 cost for these brackets. I placed labels on both sides of thefan motor in case you wanted to unscrew and reverse the direction of the motor. Some prefer the pull thru of heat while others like the push thru. I think theresistance going against the amp may work it harder than needed and cools lesswell but it will task either. As mentioned in the Ad, the rheostat shown in thephotos is available to adjust the fan as variable speed. That can increase ordecrease the rate of cooling or fan sound level to your specific needs. It isavailable from another vendor for $13 shipped. I cant compete with that price. All fans are tested before goingout. There is a one-year warranty. THERE ARE NO RETURNS EXCEPTFOR UNDER WARRANTY. So, buy well. Buyers remorse has little sympathyhere especially your children biding when you are not around. THE BUYER HAS THE CHOICE FOR MOREFANS AT A REDUCED PRICE ON LARGER NUMBER OF FANS PURCHASED. I will be offering the Phase Linear400 series II fans, as well as all models in the 220240-volt units if you areabroad, or running your own power on 220-240 volts. See my other eBay ads forthose units. Regarding Overseas shipping. YOUMUST CONTACT ME PRIOR TO PURCHASE. This is to be sure you understand theconditions of the sale.
