It will play CDs.... the carousel will spin - just will not open the tray when the button is pushed.If you tilt the unit slightly down, the tray will slide open - which leads me to believe it is the belt. The remote works and is original to this unit.This is a very nice unit cosmetically - just needs a little TLC!
