This auction is for a kit (loosely) of parts for an AUTHENTIC Nelson Pass (of Threshold fame) A40 class-A stereo power amplifier. The printed wiring boards are the real deal, not rip-offs coming from ?? The boards were purchased through Old Colony Sound Labs, the official supplier for many Audio Amateur Publications components. For DIY audio enthusiasts, this collection of parts (AKA kit) has to be a very unique find. The builder will need to find a suitable power transformer or transformers (44 VCT at 6A needed for EACH channel). This kit includes all the semiconductors, to include the power transistors and high-current bridge rectifiers. Capacitors (easy to find) are NOT included. The 0.68 ohm 1W wirewound resistors are not included, but all of the 1/4W 1% film resistors are included. Please view all photos carefully, as theyre better descriptors than my writing. This Mezmerize B1 Buffer was a PCB that was purchased from diyaudio. I assembled this Buffer, it works as expected. It was Hot Rodded and is currently at 350mA. Very nice Buffer for someone. 6 inputs that are relay selected. Single Ended output.

It was serviced in 1997 by Threshold - preventative maintenance and repaired a transistor in output stage - see service receipt in photos for more information. This is diy buffer preamp with no gain but low output impedance for 2 line level inputs such as CD or tuner, etc... It came with a wall-wort power supply. This was acquired from a trade so I did not build this but used it before I acquire a line preamp with gain. It was built based on a design by Nelson Pass of Threshold/Pass Labs fame. The board is stuffed with quality components and chassis is sizable for future upgrades and came with gold plated RCA jacks. It uses two mono volume controls for stereo. Very quiet and very clean and neutral sounding. Perfect for between CD player or phono stage and high gain power amp for full output. Since it has no gain, theres very little distortion and noise but provide low output impedance to drive long cables. Gobs of power, 200 watts x2, will drive anything with authority. Absolutely excellent condition, very clean on the outside (see photos). Inside in great shape as well, just a bit dusty, see photos. Recently checked out and given a clean bill of health. Sound is just wonderful. I would keep it but it’s massive and I don’t need 200 watts. I purchased this from the original owner, and it was obviously well cared for in his home listening room. It comes in the factory box with the owners manual. An excellent amplifier in all regards. I’ve done my best to describe the condition, and provided plenty of photos. If you have any questions please ask. This amp weighs 48 pounds and will be expensive to ship.

Here we have one of the best sounding stereo receivers of all time, the Nakamichi TA-4A. This was Nakamichi’s top of the line from 1988-1990 and is the most warm and smooth, yet detailed and powerful receivers ever made. It features the world renowned STASIS design by Nelson Pass. It is a high bias class A/B design and has a much higher class A operation wattage than most. That’s why it’s so warm and smooth. It’s has a phenomenal phono section and tuner section. Just Google this thing! I’ve owned all of the top receivers from the era (Luxman, Denon, NAD, Onkyo, Sony ES, etc) and this is the one I always go back to. It functions perfectly and sounds excellent. There are a few scuffs and scratches, but it’s in great shape for its age. The inside is clean and there are no pops or crackles in the controls. Comes with the super rare original remote and the remote from the TA-3A as a spare back up. It will be packed extremely well for safe shipping! Please check out my other listings coming soon! Here it is, the original version STASIS licensed by Threshold... designed by Nelson Pass Nakamichi PA7. The one to get according to him on YT video, encourage you to look up this gorgeous beast of an amp.This being my second Pass amp, Ill be keeping the other. Outputs 200 watts x 2 and is plenty of power for my Magneplanars and B&W 801s. There are no returns due to its vintage but be assured it is working as it should, tested day of listing.
