NAD 3020e Integrated amplifier. Vinyl ready. Fully Restored & Serviced / recapped. VGC. This amplifier looks good and sounds great. Front panel is very good and casing also very good condition with a few marks here and there -- see photos. Input connectors are 24K Gold plated. All potentiometers (Volume, tone etc) serviced, lubricated & work with no crackles. ALL of the Electrolytic capacitors have been replaced including larger Power supply Filter capacitors. It is imperative that these are all changed. Old Electrolytic capacitors of 40 years+ are EOL and will fail. DC offset and O/P Transistors bias have been correctly set. Original Motorola MJ2055/ 2N3055 output transistors remounted on new Silicon thermal transfer pads, replacing old dried mica insulator/ thermal compound. All solder joints checked. Circuit board fully cleaned - see pics This amplifier has a truly stunning sound quality guaranteed to impress. The 3020e version is the penultimate iteration of the original 3020 design in a low profile case. All of the later designs of the 3020 were design improvements on the original. A ‘grown up’ low-profile amplifier with phono; vinyl ready with built-in pre-amp. Capable of driving difficult loads with complex impedance characteristics such as bookshelf loudspeakers. The ideal amp for conversion to vinyl listening! Developed at the time when vinyl and CD listening was of equal significance and has provision for a tape recorder giving an additional phono input if a tape recording facility in not needed. The ‘e’ circuit is the penultimate iteration of the original 3020 design in a low profile case. This particular 3020e finished in NAD grey is in good condition for age with some signs of use. Please study the pictures carefully. The front-facing fascia is in fair condition with sharp corners but a few ‘dings’ near the on-off button and scratches on top cover. This highly sought-after amp been professionally serviced and brought up to date: the main smoothing capacitors replaced with uprated units, higher safe operating voltage (63v instead of 35v). The power transistors are the original factory fitted Motorola devices resited on heat transfer pads to improve the thermal stability. Gone are the dried-out and ‘crusty’ old micas and paste. See ‘under the hood’ pictures. Controls and switches are cleaned and lubricated. Bias and centre voltages adjusted back to factory levels. This amp is dust, rust and corrosion free. The mains lead is full length and fitted with a 13amp plug correctly fused at 3 amp. This Nad sounds musical and controlled with very low noise levels. Everything works perfectly. Plenty of independent reviews available on line. ‘Soft-Clipping’ option switchable on rear together with loudspeaker impedance selector. The phono (vinyl) pre-amp circuitry is highly regarded by audiophiles. I am also selling my NAD 4130 fm/am tuner with an identical footprint and matching paintwork: see separate listing.
