Selling a very nice used pair of M&K 1b surround sound/stereo speakers. Speakers themselves are in good used condition, there are a couple dings on the sides of one speaker, as well as the back, which I pictured. One ding on the top left corner of one of the speakers as well. All cosmetics are pictured very well and were touched up by the previous owner. All surrounds and drivers are in perfect working order. Think of it as a dipole surround speaker that also includes a very high-quality direct radiating speaker, he explains. The sidewalls of the speaker angle-in slightly to the forward-facing front panel and contain a dipole array of 1 soft-dome tweeter and 3½ woofer/midrange. The front panel has an additional 5¼ driver that has reduced output compared with the dipole drivers.Actually, the SS-150s are flexible to a fault: they can operate as true dipoles, with no information added by the direct-radiating driver, or as direct-radiating surrounds, with no information added by the dipole speakers, or you can adjust the output of either the dipoles or the direct radiator for a host of blended operations. I thought I understood the THX concept of the null pretty well: If you locate dipolar speakers so that the listeners ears sit between the two sets of radiating drivers, the sound doesnt appear to emanate from the speaker boxes, but rather from throughout the room. This listing is for a pair of M&K SS-150THX speakers in white. These are incredibly rare in the white color. If you are looking at this, I dont have to describe them much more as you already know M&K speakers are LEGENDARY. Ive been an audiophile my entire life and I dont want to sell these but due to hard times, Im forced to let them go. My brother is actually in the process of buying a whole surround sound for his basement and I tried VERY hard to sell them on these as I would rather prefer to keep them in the family, but he didnt want to have mixed color speakers. I tried to convince him to buy my Triads that I also have listed and he said no. Too bad as these are as good as it gets when it comes to surround sound when watching a movie. I am the 2nd owner of these and any time I bring home new equipment, i METICULOUSLY clean them. I probably spent a solid hour+ cleaning these. Not that they were filthy, but when I say meticulous, i mean it...Ill use my nail to very carefully scrape away and small smidges of dirt build up over the years. Its not as easy as a quick wipe down, at least for me it isnt. When Im done cleaning them , there is literally no dirt on them, even under a magnifying glass lol. I did notice a little dust in the pics, that was from them sitting in my basement, I missed that when I took the pics. As far as the grilles...I used a damp microfiber towel to gently wipe them and couldnt get that black out. I think its from the grille frame...Ive had speakers before that have some black spray from the factory that easily rubs off, I dont know what it is or why they do it, but Ive seen this from multiple speaker companys. It must be some factory spray they put on the grille frames, very annoying as it can be rubbed off. I only used water...there may be specialty cleaning solutions or an upholstery cleaning place you can have them restored back to new.
