For sale is a used Hafler DH-112 pre preamplifier. Adding this unit to your DH-101 or DH-110 will give you the capability of using low or medium output moving coil phono cartridges. It was pulled from a working DH-110 preamp. I recapped it with high quality capacitors.Please note: This unit required you to install inside your Hafler preamp. Do not buy without the proper electronics capabilities. This unit was installed in a DH-110 preamp so the muting wires have been removed. If you are planning on installing in a DH-101 preamp, let me know and I will install the 2 wires you will need.Installation instructions are in the back of the DH-110 manual. This unit has been fully tested, all functions in working order with the exception of Outout PHONO 2, which is NOT WORKING.Metal cabinet has some minor scuffs as is normal wear. This is a very nice David Hafler DH-101 Preamplifier that has been recently serviced/upgraded. Electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with new mostly Nichicon versions, voltage regulators replaced, and tone potentiometers replaced. Included with the unit is the original paperwork, including assembly instructions/service manual, the large pictorial diagram, and the original parts that were recently replaced. It is coming out of an in-use environment so everything is verified to be working. All in all, one of the simplest and cleanest preamps ever made. A cool piece of audiophile history! Hafler 101 preamp in working condition. Tested the Aux, Tape 1 and 2 outputs with a phone. Tested phono 1 and 2 with a turntable. All test produced sound on both channels. Knobs would benifit from cleaning and deoxit. Comes with PC-4 capacitor kit (see photos).

Hafler Vorverstärker DH-101. Defekt, Achtung: 120 Volt

Hafler DH-101Pre-amplifier (Rare UK Version, Working) + Instruction booklet I’ve at long last decided to sell my lovely DH101 Hafler pre-amp which I’ve owned from new in 1979. This was the first of a line of very good sounding pre-amps and amplifiers from the USA Hafler company. Hasn’t been used for a while but checked it out and it it still sounds great (checked Aux, Tuner and PU inputs). As can be seen from the photos it’s cosmetically in good condition – a few small chips and scratches on the casing but the front panel is great. I have made a few modifications over the years which reflect improvements Hafler made in later models like the DH 110. Whilst these detract from originality they do make it much more usable. - Added a turn-on muting circuit to silence a huge thump that otherwise occurs if switched to the pick-up input when turned on (this was a design problem with the circuit they used, not a fault in this unit ) - Added bypass capacitors to the un-polarised capacitors in the signal path (seemed to improve the definition of the sound). - “Aux” input has internal attenuator to make it more appropriate for CD player output levels - Changed the original US power outlets to safer IEC sockets (avoids unsheathed pins carrying 240v) It seems to work fine and sounds lovely but it is “classic” and I’m aware of two problems that are likely to be found in equipment of this age/era. - The balance control is a bit flaky when one goes off central balance - The original 1970’s input sockets that Hafler fitted are not the greatest and sometimes need attention.Complete with Instruction and Assembly booklet.
