This is an awesome piece of audio gear! The Emotiva PT-1 is a preamp, meant to connect to a power amp which would then drive a pair of speakers. Its a 2.1 configuration, which means it puts out two channels of stereo audio plus a dedicated subwoofer output. It features a USB digital input that will recognize and decode digital (S/PDIF) signals up to 24/192k from a computer or other device. Same with the digital coax and optical inputs. In addition there is a high quality bluetooth input so you can send audio from a phone, computer or other device. There is also a high quality phono input that will allow selection of either a moving magnet (MM) or moving coil (MC) phono cartridge on your turntable. And also a couple of standard analog inputs for tape decks or other legacy audio gear. AND...an FM tuner! This is the perfect control center for a modern stereo audio system! I have a Cambridge Audio 851a integrated amp that just didnt cut the mustard driving some dali rubicon 2s. It was tricky because the 851 makes a lovely noise but just there are some issues when its pushed. The a300 has taken the open and detailed characteristics of the 851 and just made everything bigger. There is no doubt that the dalis make and much bigger experience at both low and high volumes. My intention is to get rid of the 851a and invest in an emotiva pre amp as the money I have in the 851s power amp is now wasted. Construction like a tank iron case heavier than looks. Power rate is honest. But minimum output impedance is 4ohm, not suitable for your loved 3-ohm-minimun-speakers like Dynaudio, etc. sound is dynamic and powerful yeah but also has than, lets say, boring sound of poorly designed american made in china class_AB amps that make me always prefer my night to day better Hypex Ncore power amp!

I bought this baby back in May 2024 as a pinch hitter while my Rotel preamp was off for warranty repairs for what I was led to believe would be many months. A month later the Rotel came back and this Emotiva went back in its box. For the price this is a spectacular preamp. A good DAC. An FM tuner. Digital Inputs galore. Rock solid Bluetooth streaming. It doesn’t color the source, and I was exercising it with a 500W Rotel Amp driving Vandersteen 2Ci speakers.
