NOTE: If you are <1 foot from tweeters plugged into this amp, you will hear a high frequency buzz. This is not an easily solved issue according to folks I have spoken to. I have done blind listening comparisons with this amp and high-end Parasound and stereo amps and this one absolutely holds its own. **NOT WORKING** Emotiva XPA-5 Gen 3. This amp was working fine till about a month ago. Power it on and it clicked with 3 purple led lights showing. I unplugged it for about a month. Now, nothing happens when I power it on. No lights or power click. Not sure what is wrong with it. But I suspect its an power board or main board. The individual channels card should be working but not gauranteed. This would be good for someone that knows how to fix electronics or how to add another channel into existing XPA amps. From AudioHolics:According to Emotiva, the Gen 2 amplifiers feature a refined differential input and short signal path Class A/B topology that Emotiva says lowers the noise floor when compared to the previous versions. The gain structure has also been reduced by 3 dB (a request by some customers). As before, both amps give you your choice of balanced or unbalanced inputs; however the Gen2 models have higher quality unbalanced input connectors and input switches. Users who are picky about the brightness of the front panel status will rejoice as the lighting as been toned down in the new models (you still have the option to completely turn off all the indicator lights). I am the original owner and have relied on this amp to power my KEF R-series front five (L/C/R/LS/RS) since purchasing from Emotiva. It has provided amplification for an Emotiva XMC-200, also for sale here on eBay, and has performed flawlessly, serving ample clean power across all channels with vanishingly low THD+N. My reason for selling it now is that I’m upgrading to a 15.4 channel processor and its matching home theater amplifier.
