For repair/restoration/resale. I don’t know much about turntables, but I will try to describe the issues. It powers on and something in the bottom is spinning, but the turntable itself won’t spin. There is also an orange light as shown in the pictures, so it does power on but something is wrong with it. I turned it on for the first time in years. When I switched the stop/start switch from “stop” to “start,” the switch got locked in the “start” position. Now I can’t move it back to “stop” (It takes a lot of force and I don’t want to break anything). Also, the black lever on the right side had some resistance when I first moved it forward (normal amount of resistance indicating some mechanical thing going on that is supposed to), but now it moves back and forth with nearly no resistance. Not sure what is going on there. If you know about these things and think the issue could be a simple fix, let me know what could be wrong so I can see if I can get it working and update the listing. Also let me know if you need any more pictures. The dust cover has scratches but no cracks. The wood also has minor scratches. Will pack very carefully for shipping.

I am the original owner and purchased it the late 70s. It was working when I stored it 15 years ago. Turntable will not spin without helping it start. No cover. For parts/restoration/resale. Paypal only please.

Dual 1229Q idler drive turntable. This turntable has been in my hands for over 20 years and has been rotated in/out of the system. It is a fully automatic turntable and a well-regarded and sounding turntable of Duals golden age. The turntable functions are all operational including the strobe. In 2018 I had the turntable revitalized by well-known Dual expert Pat Lever in L.A. A number of items were repaired, adjusted, lubricated and replaced as part of this service with the invoice pictured. RCA jacks were added eliminating the captive cables and allowing for cables of your choice. Installed is an Ortofon OM10 cartridge with minimal hours which is a good match for the ultra-low mass arm. Also replaced was the dried out idler drive wheel that I purchased from a company in Canada making high quality reproductions of this part. The dustcover is included and has scratches and swirls from nearly 50 years of love, but no cracks. The walnut United Audio base is a little tired looking, but still presentable. This is for local sale only as I do not have the original packaging. Pick-up will be local to 97068 and coordinated with buyer after sale with demo possible. Thanks for looking.

Hello Today I am offering on separate auctions, parts lots from a Dual 1219 I have taken apart. This was a very clean machine, as you can see from the condition of the parts. I thought about shipping this turntable together, as a complete unit, and not taking it apart, but I did not want to pack and ship such a delicate item. Vintage Dual 1229-Q Turntable in very good overall condition. Fully working in auto-play, manual tonearm lead-in/power on and end of record auto lift up/shut down and cueing working (see youtube link; file too big for eBay). Record size and speed selection levers move & work as they should. Runs quietly and sounds great. Features a rare low profile Dual dust cover, United Audio walnut wood veneer base and built-in strobe speed check with adjustment (new LED strobe light source installed). Cartridge is a Shure M91E I’m pretty sure; some of the lettering is obscured with a good Super Track stylus. The faceplate has various scratches, scuffs and scrapes from use & age but with all lettering present; the center trim brushed chrome has some pitting. Paper speed ring under platter has a spot that has lifted away giving a momentary blip when viewing the strobe window. Base is in great shape with only a minor chip on the left rear corner. Dust cover has some deep scratches but no chips or breaks. These units where not shipped together with dust covers originally and I will take great pains to pack well, and I have shipped Dual’s successfully before, but plastic cover does tend to get damaged in shipping though it does help protect the tonearm assembly without having the original packaging. Platter will be removed for shipping; there is no C clip locking it in place. Sold as-is, as found with no returns or partial refunds, but guaranteed to be as shown & described. All in all, a very nice example of a 50-year-old classic & desirable Dual 1229Q turntable, the most advanced of the 1200 series. What you see is what you get, motor appears to have steady speed arm risers when play is initiated but doesn’t move horizontally. Sold as is for parts or repair. No returns excepted.
