It was released in 2002 . This is the final product of the mid-range DCD-1650 series dedicated to CDs which started in 1990. At the time of listing, I have confirmed the playback of several CDs and CD-Rs, and the sound output is good (within the scope of personal use). The tray opens and closes smoothly. There is no stickiness on the tray. I did not notice any particular issues with the digital output or PHONES (the coaxial digital is unconfirmed). Please note that as this is an older player, it does not guarantee the performance standards of that time. If you are looking for a perfect product, please refrain from purchasing.
