Croft Series 6 Rare Croft power amp based on transformer coupled PL519. It operates in push-pull and the amp runs in triode, putting out about 50W into 8 Ohms. As you can see from the photos the amp has two sets of output taps. And it’s a typically utilitarian Croft unit. There are a few minor marks on the case a few screws are missing from the cover. But it is sound and functional. The previous owner told me this had been upgraded by Glenn and recently serviced. But I’ve no documents to support this, so you’ll have to take my word on that - or not! This amp sounds incredibly good. Very sweet and musical but also great dynamics. I bought it to use as a stop gap and have been very pleasantly surprised by the performance it offers for the money. I’ve had way more expensive amps than this which have offered a lot less. It’s very quiet. The previous owner was a valve dealer and put very good valves in the amp. They are all excellent vintage items, including Mullard PL 519, Mullard ECC81 and Brimar ECC81. It will take 12BH7 drivers if preferred. Note - I have the schematic for the amp, which will be provided to the buyer.

Diese schlug im damaligem Laden Musik im Raum/Wiesbaden - wo ich als Verkäufer arbeitete - alle vorhandenen Vorstufen bis hinauf zu Beard P 505 MKII und besser als Audio Research SP-9 über den Phono Eingang. For sale is my rare Croft tube stereo power amplifier Series 5 III, number 413. Made entirely hand-wired by Glenn Croft in England circa 1995. I sell it because I have to downsize my collection. I used them for LS3/5a and LS5/9 with a passive preamp only, and this gave plenty of gain and dynamics, open sound and a lot of listening pleasure.I also like the small dimensions: 33 x 20 x 17 cm (WxDxH). This model has 4 (!) EL84s per channel for output, giving 25-30 Watt, ECC83s as drivers and full valve regulation. I prefer the sound of the EL84 tube above usual 25W amplifiers using EL34 tubes. In the past famous UK power amplifiers using EL84 tubes have been made by Leak. Glenn Croft was a genius and famous for his excellent sounding amplifiers; he sadly passed away last year. Tubes: 4 x ECC83/12AX7 8x EL84 1x CV449 1x regulator tube 6080 Output transformers made by Stabilised Transformers in Wolverhampton/UK, as Glenn told me.
